After searching the web a bit I still don't think I have a complete understanding between proforce v2, TFC, prolaunch, javelin, etc...please explain what each shaft type is supposed to do for you.

Each aftermarket shaft has different characteristics. Depending on how hard you swing, tempo, and other factors of your swing, one shaft may be able to maximze distance and acheive a desired ball flight. While one shaft may help keep the ball low for more roll, another maybe be used to produce a higher ball flight for more carry. The shafts mentioned are the model names from some of the bigger shaft companies.

specifically, all the shafts mentioned are low-launch shaft with the exception of the tfc which is a ping branded shaft, and i'm not too familiar with that one.

hope that helps-AB

Most (if not all) shafts you find today (outside of a museum) are steel, graphite, or a combination thereof. There are many companies that make shafts with different properties. There are steel shafts True Temper Dynamic Gold and Project X. Project X causes the ball to fly a little lower (I think?) than an equivalent strike with a TTDG. Many companies make graphite shafts too. Javln is one of Mitsubishi's offerings. I'm not sure exactly what it does, although I know I want to try a hybrid with one. As a general rule, steel tends to be more consistent, whereas graphite is lighter (and thus produces more club-head speed).
