Got first cart bag to replace a stand....how do you keep them up?

Do you mean from falling over? If so, you really don't. You need to find some very level grass or pavement and hope there's no breeze.

What do you mean? They just stand up on their own, that's how they're designed.
But you shouldn't really be carrying a cart bag around the course, it will be too heavy for carrying. It's designed to be put on a power cart or a push cart. For walking around and carrying you need a stand bag. Much lighter.

I have a stand bag, but it really fits on a push cart no problem. So when I feel like carrying I can, and when I feel like pushing I can.

I never really understood the point of cart bags, as stand bags fit perfectly fine on a golf cart anyway lol. Cart bags imo just make it more of a struggle than just a stand bag. My stand bag has the older system, where once you take it off your shoulder, the stand goes out and stays out until you put it back on your shoulder, and the strap pulls the legs back in.

Cart bags store a ton more stuff. And I walk at least one round every week and the cart bag fits nicely in my cart.

I put a couple of changes of clothes and a couple of dozen golf balls in my C130 last time I spent a week in Myrtle Beach. I had to check the bag anyway (for $) so by storing more in it I was able to just get by with a carry on and kept the golf bag below the airline's heavy bag limit (more $).

Not really. I played in a scramble yesterday and used a cart for the first time since I've had this bag (2 years). My bag is near worthless on a cart-it won't stay in oriented in a way that reaching clubs is easy. The pockets are a pain in the butt to get to on a cart, and the valuables pocket is almost completely unaccessible.

Which is fine, for the two times a year (maybe) I use a cart. But if I was cart bound, I would definitely not use a stand bag (or at least MY stand bag) every day and put up with the hassle.

I used an Ogio Force bag for a few years until the zippers on 3 pockets gave out, then one day while wandering around T J Max I spied a Taylormade Monaco cart bag for $59.00 new. I bought it and it held everything my old bag did in half the pockets which left 3 large pockets empty. Best thing is It fit's nicely in my push cart, stay's in place without spinning in the back of the cart when I ride, and best of all in the parking lot, at the range or at home it will stand there by itself. Yes it is heavy but not where I can't carry it on the range or around the parking lot. Seems like there is more weight in the bottom helping it stand on it's own.....and the price was right.

I've got a PING cart bag.

It holds much more than my PING standbag

In my honest opinion it is a good idea to have both.

During the summer in AZ I never walk, this is when my cart bag comes into play, I can carry hats, sun block, extra clean towels, etc.

I've got a PING cart bag.

I agree . . . I use a Physics cart bag when playing the nasty, dusty 9-hole goat path course, my Cleveland cart bag when on nice golf courses, and my Ping Hoofer when I want to walk and carry.

I like the cart bags, because I can carry rain gear, accessories I may need on the course, more water bottles, etc.

structurally they are designed to stand upright on a level surface. When I am near an uneven surface on lay it down on the ground like you see the tour pro caddies.

Hope that helps

Thanks for all the help.....after much picking and plucking, it'll stand on pavement.....but she topples on carpet. Nice bag, too.

Ive got a $30 intech stand bag I got from walmart that holds all my clubs, tees, and a lot of balls, ive usually got 40-50 in there. And it fits just fine on a cart, straps in nicely and you can get to the zipper pockets. And for the few times i carry it from my car to the range its not overly heavy or uncomfortable to carry, leaving a few balls at home then would make it much lighter i suppose. I guess some stand bags are larger and wont fit on a cart but mine is just fine and I may use it some on a push cart at a local course, the short one i mentioned in another thread, it only costs $5 to walk 9 holes there and see how well it works like that.
