For those wondering, Dan was banned for 24 hours to cool off and do some research. Whether or not he'll actually use the time to do that is up to him.

Any other user names Dan creates will be deleted, which explains why "Dan309" is no longer here. Dan308 is welcome back in a few more hours. Our rules here are simple. They read in part:
Behave like an adult and you'll have no problems. Behave like someone who doesn't belong on a forum and you'll quickly find that you aren't on the forum.

Dan is the first to be banned for time period. Only two members have ever been permanently banned, and both of those were over a year ago. One was nearly two years ago (swearing, calling people names, etc.) and the other wouldn't stop posting advertisements.

Dan's charade got tiresome, and twelve people reported his posts as needing attention (using the "Report This:" button). Calling people "man haters" and not having your facts straight, then acting on that with a level of vitriol unseen so far on this forum earned Dan308 a short ban. He's welcome to come back when his ban is over. Perhaps he'll contribute positively. Just don't talk about Michelle Wie.

For whats it worth, i read the thread and really dont see how he did anything "wrong".

annoying sure, but hey, we all golfers, we whine like nobodys business.

and as for getting his facts straight, I really think thats subjective and shouldnt be a factor on whether someone is banned or not.

I mean this is a discussion forum after all, we learn from each others opinions and input regardless. to be honest ive read tonnes of things stated on here as "fact" which are miles from the "truth". they're merely opionions at the end of the day.

If someone is "wrong", they'll simply be schooled and if they put up a spirited defence, so be it, i feel any ways.

which brings me to the point about bevins and wie.

from everything ive read, Wie has never said she would petition to become a member of the LPGA before she turns 18. Infact, from what little i know admittedly, shes seems perfectly content to play in the 8 or so events shes eligible for (as a non LPGA member) in order to get status, a la tiger. She talks more about college than asking to become a member before 18 it seems to me

im still lost as to how Bevins has denied her anything or how shes "done all that she can do" in words used in the thread.

just wondering really. clarification would be great.

Which would explain why you didn't "report" any of his posts.

Except that facts aren't subjective... What she is allowed to do (play 7 events, etc.) are facts, not opinions.

She can't get status that way (until she's 18) automatically.

Her family inquired about getting her status at 15, and again at 16, and was told "don't bother to apply, we'll deny it" (by both Votaw at 15 and Bivens at 16.) This isn't widely reported because it's unknown whether an actual "appeal" or "request" was filed or whether it was simply pre-emptively denied. Think of it this way: if Bivens hadn't turned her down, don't you think Bivens would be trying like the dickens to get her to play more events? At the very least, Bivens would want to clarify that she's not playing Dr. Evil and in fact has never denied Wie membership because Wie has never applied. She'd want that to be known, at the very least.
just wondering really. clarification would be great.

Hope that helps. Dan's 24-hour ban, by the way, has been lifted. But he'd be wise not to comment here, or on Michelle Wie, for awhile.

Yeah, somehow I think that Dan probably won't be dropping by anytime soon.

Wrong! I'm still here. I've been here over a year. Is this a forum or a club? iacas, you know you made up that complaint thing....................a difference of opinion dosen't warrant a complaint.

At any rate, I tried to relate 1st hand experience, not armchair knowledge. If people don't want to face the truth, what do I care?

I think it had to do with the tone, not the difference of opinion.

And to answer your first question, it's a place where we respect each other. Call that whatever you want. Just don't be a jerk about it, eh?

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
