Ok, so I have been playing seriously for about 2 months and am probably 10 shots better than I was, which i'm happy about. I try to play and get to the range like 3 times a week. My swing isn't amazing, but it's getting there. My only complaint is my clubs. This may sound snobbish, but I'm 6'5" and think it would help my game a ton if I got better irons/woods that were fit for me. I mean, I try to deal with it, but I reallllly feel like it is the reason I'm not where I'd like to be. Could my large frame and lack of adequate clubs be the issue? Where should I get the reshafting done if I get new irons/woods? Will it help?!?!? Haha

Thanks.

Ps, I know someone will say lessons, but I really don't want to take any.

Pss; the the reason I'm asking is partly due to the threads I have read upon success stories involving lenghthning. :)

Get fitted, it's all you can really do. We can't possibly know if you need longer shafts. How long are your arms?

You maybe need another inch, who knows?

I'd go somewhere and get fitted. You very likely need your clubs bent to be more upright. That's a common theme among taller golfers. I'm ~2* upright and 6'3".

To get 8 irons bent, lies and lofts, costs around 35$ at Dick's. Getting your putter fit is around 10$. If you need a little extra length they can add a spacer under the grip, but it will harm the feel a little bit. I'm 6'4" myself, and my irons are +1/2 inch and bent 2.5 degrees upright. It really depends on the distance of your wrist to the floor and your swing style/mechanics also need to be considered.

Keep in mind that Dick's is a big box store and you take what you get when it comes to employees. I'm fortunate to live near a Dick's with an awesome clubmaker. Otherwise look at the "real" golf only shops in your area.
Getting fit is a real good idea.
good luck.
