I would really like to hear your experience with clubs fitted from a real clubmaker. I do not mean clubs fitted online or by a salesman at a demo, but from a real clubmaker that spends time fitting each club for you. Frequency fitted clubs an the whole shebang!

-Which clubs did you get fitted for?

-What specifications did you go for, shaft, clubhead, loft, lie etc.

-How did this effect your game? (most important)

The reason for posting this is that I am considering going for the full fit from a clubmaker rather than buing clubs from Taylormade,Ping,Titleist etc.

The clubmaker i am considering are using head components from Ralph Maltby, Tom Wishon and Mario Cesariom Ashton Golf and Ruger Golf.
Steel shafts from Royal Precision (Rifle), True Temper (Dynamic Gold) and Harrison. Carbon shafts from SKFiber, AccuFlex, Grafalloy, Aldila, Diamana and MCC.

What I Play:
Ping Rapture V1 9° stock UST stiff | Taylormade V-steel, 15° and 18°, UST Proforce V2 stiff | Mizuno MP-57 3-PW Project X 5.5 | Titleist Vokey Spin Milled 52.08/58.12 | 35" Scotty Cameron Studio Select | Titleist Pro V1 | Leupold GX-1 Rangefinder

The experience, fit, and overall confidence you gain from knowing you have clubs and shafts that fit you and your swing are absolutely invaluable.

I will never use another set bought off the wall.

The really good clubmakers can just reuse your current clubs, if you like them, and depending on what kind of club it is. They can just adjust the swingweight/balance and put the right flex/length shaft in and then adjust the loft/lie of your clubs.

I was lucky enough to find out that uses Mizuno, and the overall experience and improvement in my game has been awesome.

It is not a fix-all by any means... but my bad shots are not nearly as bad, and my good shots become great shots.

Does this guy use a shaft lab or some other kind of tool to determine what flex shaft you should be playing?

I got fitted for Henry-Griffitts clubs. The fitting took a total of 5hrs over 3 sessions.....The big difference to me is my consistancy in my ball striking. Its quite a bit easier to strike the ball consistantly when the club fits perfectly....
The other big difference was accuracy with driver, getting the right head, having it neutral, not closed. 13 degrees and the right shaft means that i can stay in the fairway better then i ever have.......I'm actually on my way right now to go pickup my clubs, i'll post the shaft specs and stuff when i get back.

I hit clubs from Wishon and the snake eyes/golfsmith stuff also. To me the huge most important thing is the fitter.....I would have been fine playing with any of the components, but the fitter that i liked the best and seemed to know the most and understand what he was doing the most was a henry-griffitts guy. So thats the way i went.....

I loved the snake eyes viper tour irons and golfsmith G40+ irons as well

I was fitted by the Mizuno rep at a driving range. It turned out I needed 1.5" longer and 4* up. The change in my ball striking is amazing. My buddies asked me the other day "what happen to your iron game"? I'm sure some of the improvement is in my head, I do feel more confident addressing the ball. Custom fit should be considered by all, being fitted can make a big difference.

Yes, he uses al kinds of equipment in his fitting lab. I have checked some references and it looks good. Pretty expensive dough.... Especially since it is here in Norway.

Check out his profile on this site:

I am travelling to Houston in Ocotober and might buy clubs there instead. Do you think the guys at for example Edwin Watts can do just as a good job as a professional clubmaker?

I am hoping some of Mizunos irons feels good for me, love the look!
