3 years ago, my first summer getting back into golf. I had just started working at a new company, gotten a promotion and thought I was going places. I was one of 5 non-sales guys asked to play in a company golf outing, (myself, another engineer, and 3 executives.) I was pretty nervous about it, so i went to the driving range the night before and hit probably 100 balls. i was hitting every club pure and felt great. The next morning my back was so stiff i could barely swing a club. i topped every ball off of the tee and I don't think my group (4 man scramble) used a single shot of mine expect for a putt. Horrible day. Never invited to play again with anyone from that event. :(.

Tour event with gallary following our group ... 82 ... 44 putts. Enough said.

I can sympathize with that one... I shot a 78 with 41 putts a number of years ago. Definitely my most embarassing putting display.

A year ago I shot a 114 in a tournament after a one year layoff. I started off hooking 4 balls OB on the first hole.

I was hooking it 50+ yards on every single shot, no matter what club I hit.

Now one year later I average 44 strokes better lol.

Golf is a game in which the ball always lies poorly and the player always lies well.

Played a course near Indianapolis known for it's difficulty, Purgatory Golf Links. From championship tees (which, of course, we played) measures 7754 on the scorecard, including a 741 yard par 5. Bet my buddy, who is scratch or better, that I could break 100. Missed a 10 foot putt on 18 to shoot 101. Fantastic golf course, though. BTW, he shot 76 with no birdies and a lost ball in the rough on 18.

I've wanted to play Purgatory (great name) for some time now but I don't visit/work in Kokomo anymore so it may be a while before I get back down there.

My most embarassing round was this last week. I went to a local golf club on a weekday off, and as a single on a suprisingly busy Friday morning, I got paired with another single. I'm usually shy at first but the guy was nice and we were about the same skill level, so no pressure there really.

The problem came on around the 5th or 6th hole. I've lost a lot of weight recently and haven't replaced all my clothes yet, so my pants are usually struggling to stay up with the belt cinched tight. Well they slid down slightly with the inseam hanging around my knees, and as I got back into the cart I heard a loud RIPPPPPPPPPPPPP. Tore the entire ass and crotch out. I untucked my shirt and finished up. Thankfully my partner was only playing 9 holes, so I swung by the parking lot and had a spare pair of jeans in the back that I put on to finish out the back 9. So friggin' embarassing.

Many years ago, I was playing with a client. I hit every ugly shot in the bag, felt like the scene from Tin Cup, topped a 3 wood, shaked a 5 iron, chili dipped a wedge......

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
