Here's a suggestion:

I've played with a number of balls this summer and off the tee they are all about the same.

For your game you can shave off a lot of shots with a good short game so I'd focus on finding a ball that you like to chip and putt with and go with that.

Just today I was in a scramble and I used a TP Red and Black, Pro V1 and a Srixon AD 333.

No difference off the tee and in some instances I used three different balls on one hole depending on what type of shot was next. The Srixon is my scramble putting ball for instance because I like a soft feel.

Playing a regular round I now mostly use the ProV because it has the best combination of spin around the greens along with a soft feel for putting, for me anyways.

Find a ball you like around the green and you'll be in good shape.

The TP Black is TMs Pro V1x equivalent...

It bothers me that no one is correcting this.

The TP Red LDP and TP Black LDP are niche balls. They DON'T correlate directly to pro v1 and pro v1x. The Red is soft like a pro v1, but spins less like the pro v1x. Also, it's a lower trajectory ball. The Black is firmer like the v1x, but spins more like the pro v1. About the OP. If you don't care about distance or spin, play the cheapest ball you can find. IMO, the ONLY reason to play anything more than a cheapo ball is for more spin on the greens. Figure out if you prefer softer or harder balls. The Burner TP is the best feeling ball I've played by far... it's also extremely soft. I've had better luck with the cheap "soft" versions of balls in general. Honestly I think everyone should take my route, save money... and just play cheap used decent brand balls. I bought 100 used balls (top flights, nikes, noodles... etc) for $8 bucks of craigslist. That way I didn't care about losing a ball for one. I could hit multiple balls for practice and if a shot was bad I didnt waste anyones time looking for a ball. It wasn't until I got into the low 90s that I preferred a ball with more spin..... but that has to do with my style of chipping. if you like to run the ball to the hole, then theres still no reason to pay for spin.

Thank you this was very helpful, I think I'll go back to the burner red

I would also suggest a lower spinning, more durable, and cheaper ball right now. The more spin on the ball, the more your slice will get you into trouble. Tons of decent 2 piece balls around.

If you like TM balls, then I would suggest the TM Burner. If you just have to step up a notch, I really love the TM Burner TP LDP. Good spin, durable, and can be found for around $25 or so a dozen.

Gary, you're one of the most helpful on here. Helped me a lot. Thank you! I'll give away my Black's and bust out my Burner again i liked those, my little brother is very good golfer he's 15 and hes very convincing at what I need and would benefit me, but i think sometimes he BS's me because he tries to impress me cause im his older brother lol

What ball should I use and would benefit me the most being a newer player this summer I use the TP Black, I like it a lot, but my brother always tell me that if I'm going to pay that much for balls, I might as well go with the Titleist ProV1.. Thoughts?

If you like TaylorMade balls, try the TM Burner TP's. They are great performers for a mid price range. It's a 3 piece ball with a urethane cover. Maybe not as long as the regular TM Burners, but good performance in the scoring area.

I have a few Titleist NXTs would they be good for me?

I played an NXT Tour a month or so back, and liked it fairly well. It seemed a little more "dense" or "dead" than the TM urner TP's I was using, but it went far and had pretty good spin.

If you have 'em, play 'em! They will probably be offered to the Gods of the Water in short order anyway! :D

Gary

I've used the Nike Power Distance Soft and the Srixon Soft Feel lately, and like both of them.

They are both supposedly designed for distance with "slower" swing speeds - whatever "slower" means exactly. My driver speed seems to range from about 87-92 mph (I don't know whether that puts me in the slow or medium swing speed category).

In any event, they don't seem to have too much spin off the driver and other longer clubs, but they are still fairly soft. I like their feel on putts a lot.

The Nike's are about $18/dozen new, and the Srixon's are about $20/dozen new.
