Played a round yesterday, shot a 93 at Winchendon Golf School. Buddy said I was coming over the top too much. I know what this means, but not sure how to correct. After he made that comment, I felt like I was 'aiming or steering the driver' He also said I only seam to do it with the driver. My 3 & 5 wood I hit just like my 5 & 7 iron swing. Is over the top caused by me trying to kill the driver? Too much right arm? Drills to correct or how to correct. Thanks

Curious, do you trust your buddies assessment? A swing video posted here would give the swing gurus here something to comment about; is it truly "coming over the top".

My swing thought for avoiding an over the top move (right or wrong): Keep that right elbow close and try to put in your right pocket.

Thanks guys, I believe the rushing/tempo is my problem. I play at three course. One I mentioned, the other two are much shorter. I play so much at this par 3 course, that I think when I get to a longer course....mostly on the par 5's....I think I need to crush my driver...I don't!!! When I play the par 3 course I know I can reach every green so I grab the club that allows me to swing easy. On a long par 5 I want to keep up with my buds and get home in 2...I do not have the game for that. I also read somewhere that even with the driver you need to pick a realistic target...I usually look to far down the fairway...going out to course #3 tonight for league...I will let you know how it goes....By the way new driver since last week,,,went from R7 to 09 Burner. New driver not the issue, always have had that rushing issue with the driver....it comes and goes...tempo and drop right elbow in pocket...thanks again. Buddy is a 8 hcp, so I feel he can help me.

Went as expected. Some really good drivers and some pretty bad slices! Scrambled in with a 44 with two lost balls. Par 35. Ball flight with new 9.5 driver still a little higher than I would like, maybe I need to move ball back in my stance? Currently play it in front of my left foot...tee it high...in the past when I try moving ball back some I slice even worse. Iron play I don't slice, 90% straight, some a slight fade. 3 & 5 wood same ratio.... My driver needs work....I slowed tempo down and made good contact, but 2 drivers were big balloon slice...ball never to be seen again! More range time to come over next several days....any drills any one may have would be great. Thanks.
