So, today me and my uncle went out and walked a quick front nine. I had played the same nine yesterday and I carded a 55, which is about aerage for me. Well, today I was relaxed on on my game, and I shot a 47! Finally in the 40's! My uncle is pretty good, he shot a 41. I was really crushing the drives yesterday and even more today. Yesterday I was about 250-265 every drive. Today, I was really pounding em' straight out there. One short par four is 301, and my drive came within 10 feet of the fringe! It was about a 285 or 290 yard drive! I couldn't believe I hit it so far and straight. I also had about 2 more drives that were creeping up on 300. My putting was great as well, only one 3 putt the whole 9 holes. I just got nervous and missed the 5 foot par putt. And on the 3rd hole which is a par three, I was just off the fringe in two, and chipped it dead at the pin for par but it rinked out about 2 inches so I had to settle for the tap-in bogey. Every time I golf with my uncle I improve by at least 1 or two strokes. He knows how to help with everything. Well, I actually help him a lot with driving. He doesn't always it the driver straight, but always manages to get back on track for a par or bogey. So, tell me, how'd you guys all feel the first time you broke 50, or eve 60 for that matter. I sure feel pretty proud of myself right now.

mhodar13. Well done buddy. Trouble is now that you are hooked you will be back and the next target is 40 and then it will be 35.
Its a great game and these little milestones that we all aim for and achieve are great.
You should concentrate on your mid to short irons because you seem to be hitting really long and straight drives and 2 putting most greens. That tells me you are dropping shots on your approach shots.
Good luck and keep it up.

That's exactly my problem. Everything is consistent but my approach and pitch shots. If I can get those more consistent I can see 40 on the horizon.

Well done mhodar13! You know where you can easily find strokes so try to work on those areas. Also don't be too hard on yourself when you bob back up over 50 as is bound to happen from time to time.

I find my scores are trending downwards but you get a bit of variation on any particular day. I find sometimes I need to step back and remember that the 54 I'm angry with today was a really good score for me just a couple of months ago.

Congrats man.

What stood out to me in your post was that you said you were relaxed. That's huge for me and shooting lower scores will give you better confidence and calmer nerves next time. You can do it.

Congrats! Now you gotta go out on 18 and see if you can put two of them back to back to break 100! I remember the first time I broke 100, it was at a junior golf camp that I attended when I was 13 for a week. I shot a 97 on the last day and immediatly told my dad when he came by to pick me up. When I told him I broke 100 with a 97, he told me, "Son, you don't tell people you broke 100, you say you broke 98."

Again, congrats!

Well, I wouldn't need to hit two less strokes to break 100. But, I'm hoping to maybe get out for 18 maybe Wednesday if my unlce is up two it. I'll check tomorrow cuz I'm going to the Indians game with him. I'll keep this thread on the frst page and definitely let you guys know how I do if I do get out Wednesday. I really can't believe how much I've been powerhousing the ball lately. I'm just swinger faster and following through better and boy can I really hit em. And I haven't sliced a drive in the last 27 holes I've played, so that's progress. I just fixed my swing plane and now I just don't slice period. Now if it curves at all it's a slight hook or a little fade.

Congrats buddy. Glad to hear it. Keep it up and the your scores will keep dropping. Spend more time at the range than the course though. Use a club to keep your feet on target so you take one variable out of your setup. Then work from there and you'll be surprised at the difference in a little while. Good luck man! Keep it up!
