I MAY be interested in getting a new driver soon. I'm not hitting mine all that well right now, and think I may need a change. I used to really hook the ball, now I'm fading it. Not sure why, but regardless it's not really the club.

The one thing that intrigues me about the r7 limited is the moveable weights to adjust. I actually go through periods where I can really hook everything, then I'll through periods where I really slice everything. I know, it's weird, but it really depends on how I am swinging from week to week...which is why the weights intrigued me so much.

Another thing about that I liked is the 440CC. I currently play the Ping G10 and it's 460CC. I like the look of the Ping, but a lot of the 460CC drivers in the past 2 years or so have some really weird looking shapes and just look terrible coming off the shaft IMO. I really like the look of the slightly smaller head.

Why is the TP version listed on Golfsmith as 460CC, and the regular version 440CC? That kind of confused me. Is that a typo or is that true? Also, besides the shaft option, is there any difference beside the TP and regular r7 limited.

Anybody out there play this driver? I could get a real good deal on it which is why I've strongly been considering it, although I have not yet hit it yet.

I cant comment on any of the details of the R7 Limited, I thought about it before I got my first Sumo, but never got a chance to hit it, but is the R7 Limited the one that comes with 3 different shafts??

I figured it had to be. It didn't make much sense the that standard r7 limited would be 440cc and they would make the TP 460cc.

But I'm just curious what the TRUE differences are between the r7 limited and the TP version. I don't know if I want to drop another 100 bucks or so on the TP version if there isn't too much difference to it. Also am exploring the Tour Burner right now and the TP version of that...but adjustable weights is what has me leaning more towards the r7 limited....

Ever thought about a SuperQuad? I never had one, but I know someone that did, and he wishes he still had it. He loved the thing.

I think the big differences are that the face is a little more square on the TP version, vs. a little more closed on the regular. I think you get a better shaft selection on the TP (because of tip diameter) as well. Dont quote me on that though, I'm just going by memory, which has a way of severly screwing things up at times :)

Yup I just did more extensive research and you are correct. Thanks for the help.

As a good player who has always hooked the ball as my miss my entire life, until recently I've started fading the ball in the past week or two, but I'm going to re-work it into a draw if it means pounding out 300 balls per day at the Range, would you suggest me going with the standard or tp version? My swing speed is probably around 95-100 if I had to guess, so I don't need a stiff shaft, probably leaning more towards regular. Also, is the shaft length 45" or longer? I am only 5'7" so anything longer than 45" is probably going to be too long, so I'll have to cut it down.

Yeah, My friend actually had a r7 superquad tp down at the range today and I was hitting it pretty well, which prompted me to look into a new affordable option as a driver. The clubhead may have been slightly too heavy though. I figure I could sell my g10 for around 130 dollars and then scrape together the rest for a new one that may better suit my game at this point.

I would think since you're around my SS that you would prefer most stiff flex over a regular. I've hit the R7 Limited and the Ping G10 but definitely liked the G10 much better due to how it felt at impact. G10 was a bit longer as well and sat more open at address. Don't really like having a closed clubface at address.

I'd say work on hitting the draw with your G10 at the range instead of getting a new driver.

Yeah, I am going to certainly try to get back into a groove with my G10 for now while I am looking around at new drivers. The weights in the r7 limited really intrigued me right away though.

I know the MWT is what you're looking at right now, and I'm not sure how much money you're wanting to drop, but man, I'd give it a little more time, and give the Ping i15 a chance. I've never hit one, but I think it's one of the best looking drivers I've seen. Sorry to drop something completely off the subject, I just cant shut up about that thing!!

No, I hear you man. I am certainly keeping my options open. Hell, I've never even hit the r7 limited or TP version. I was just looking for some opinions because I don't see many people with them. I was also intrigued by the look.

Of course, consider my input as coming from a 18-20 handicapper, but I think the r7 ltd (non TP) was the best investment i have made so far.

I had a super closed faced r7 460 draw, which helped me combat my slice at first, but once that was ironed out I found myself opening the club face so much that i was looking under the ball (or that is how it felt) at address. Also, the gigantic free willy head started to bug me. So I went to the PGA superstore and hit every club they had. I was sold on the r7 for a few key reasons 1) MWT for the very reasons you have stated 2) pretty nice shaft, Ozik Matrix 3)more neutral club face (maybe 1* closed?). 4)smaller head suits my eye I do not hit it longer than my old driver though. I'm a good 10 yrds short...but its far easier to find fairways, and for me that means a lot as I'm working on getting my scores down. I've been told its a club for better ball strikers, but I think its ridiculously forgiving. Out of the 10 'driver balls' in my range bucket there is always at least a few shots that have come off the inside of the sweet spots (based on ball mark), and those still go relatively straight. The day the r9 came out was the greatest day for new driver investment...since the r7 price dropped to under 200. One caveat though...I havent fooled with the MWT yet...I left everything stock since my shots were straight anyways. SO I dunno how dramatic the change as TM claims.

Oh, ok. Thanks for the quick review.

Sounds like a pretty nice club - the major thing that jumped out at me was the 10 yards shorter? I don't know if I am prepared to lose 10 yards.

I'd say that is mostly how the club reacted to my swing, with my luck compared to others, I bet you hit it 10-20 yrds further.

I should've added that my old club was S flex, but had only 55 gram shaft, and of course had the draw bias. It did not feel like a proper S flex, more like between R and S. So I was probably hitting the old driver faster, turning and cooking the ball left... so there was more smash and more rollout. Also more bug bites on my legs from being in the tall left rough. Lemme know what you end up with, love to know that a new big dog found a new home!

The r7 is a great looking and performing driver. In the end I ended up exchanging it though because I did lose about 10-15 yards because it is all carry with this club and my swing with very little roll. I hated to make the switch because this is a great buy on the R7. Try it on the launch monitor before you buy because ballooning the ball has been a complaint with alot of the reviews. I chose to ignore when I purchased it and had to learn the hard way...

It's no different than anyother type of tp club. All of your off center shots will lose a lot of distance and accuracy. The movable weight system is neat but what happens if you set it up to fight your hook and than have a bad slice all round. I just think the weights would make me over think too much.
