Seriously, if you can't make it through the day without a phone (and you're not a doctor) maybe you're too busy to be at a golf tournament ... What the heck did we all do before cell phones? Leave them in the car or check them at the gate.

anyone know how spectators get into the british open?


When i went to the Wachovia tourney in charlotte mostly everyone was shuttled in, so they checked you before you even got on the bus and then there were people at the entrance as well.

Well when I went to watch the Seniors here in Oklahoma. It said no cell phones, on the ticket, and when you exited your car to go to the bus, they made sure you to let you know to leave it in your car.

I think the R & A should also check themselves. How can they in their right mind put players in the final group ot "The Open" on the clock when they were obviousley being delayed by the spectators. It was becoming somewhat of a side show. Ban the damn phones. If you must talk on one, what the event on TV.

How does a digital camera in a cell phone make noise? Is There a shutter?

My camera phone makes a noise and I can't shut it off, even with the phone in vibrate mode. The last three camera phones I've had, in fact...

It's a synthetic (produced) noise, not a mechanical noise. I've heard some people say that it was added to stop people from shooting illicit upskirt type photos or other such things "on the sly." But yeah, mine makes a rather loud noise you can't shut off. All may not be that way, but out of 5,000 people around a tee and even 200 with phones out, I'm sure a good portion of them had the "noisy" versions.
