How do you do it?

My grips are getting dirty, but have plenty of grip left. How would you clean?

My gloves keep getting dirty, wet, and sweaty, and get crusty and hard. Is there any way to clean these?

Sorry if it's a dumb question that's been answered.

You can clean your grips with rubbing alcohol and maybe freshen up your cords with a little light sanding with some fine grit sandpaper.

The gloves are pretty much wrecked. You can make them last longer if you buy 2 or 3 of them at a time and switch them out every 3-4 holes. Also, take them off in between shots when your just walking. This will keep them from getting soaked with sweat and drying out premature. There are a few threads on this subject if you wanted to do a quick search. Hope this helps.

That's exactly what I do with the gloves....try to buy 2-3 of the same type at the same purchase (looking for "on sale") and then rotate them throughout a round. They last much longer this way....same thing with golf shoes....rotate them every other round.

Cleaning grips.....dishwashing soap and warm water....rub 'em down well and let them air dry. Tack will be restored.

Cleaning Grips...

Wash grips about every 12 rounds, or sooner if they get noticeably dirty. Those who practice a lot will have grips get dirty more quickly.

Assuming grips are rubber or other synthetic:
1. Fill a wash bucket with warm water, and put some liquid detergent in it. (Avoid detergent containing lanolin or hand cream)
2. Get a stiff bristle brush, either broom material or synthetic. No metal brushes! These shred the grips.
3. Fill second bucket with warm water to use as rinse bucket, or have source of running warm water.
4. Put three or four clubs at a time in the wash bucket.
5. After the clubs soak a bit, work on the grips with the soapy brush. When the lather goes from brownish to whitish, that means you have the grips fairly well cleaned.
When you scrub the clubs, keep the club butt end down so the soap doesn't wash off the adhesive name tags on the shaft of the clubs.
6. Rinse the cleaned grips off in the other bucket, or run them under fresh water.
7. Blot the grips dry of dripping water with an old cotton towel.
8. Let damp grips finish drying in open air.

Hint: Vacuum the exterior of you bag, and your carry straps, while the grips finish drying.

Cleaning Leather Golf Gloves:
1. Fill a small wash pan with warm water.
2. Get a can of saddle soap. This has both cleaning capabililty, and moisturizer to soften the leather and prevent cracking.
3. Wet the glove, and scrub it lightly with a fine-bristled brush or a firm sponge.
4. Rinse the glove with fresh warm water.
5. Roll-dry the glove inside a fluffy towel.
6. Put it on your hand briefly to shape it.
7. Remove, and let dry out of the sun. (Heat dry can make it brittle).

Note: If you have a set of three gloves that you rotate throughout a round, this will lengthen the life of the gloves. Sweat-saturated gloves are more likely to stretch and tear than gloves allowed to dry out during the round. Also, remove your glove before you eat a sticky candy bar or a syrupy beverage.

I keep my gloves on 'glove keepers': plastic frames shaped like a hand. This helps them last longer. Bought my glove frames at Golfsmith, but should be available in any golf store. Cost about $3 each.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
