I personally loved both of these irons when I tested them.

MPs have a higher trajectory than the APs (personally suited my swing)

both have great feel in my opinion but I liked the MPs a little better but not by much.

both are workable but I could work the MPs a little easier with my swing but very close.

APs were a half club longer than the MPs for me and a little more roll

I agonized over the decision and to be honest you cannot go wrong with either one of them. It is a great dilemma to be in. I think that both clubs will warrant hitting and see which one suits your swing the best. Good luck

I'm taken aback by your comment "Asking other people you've never met or seen play golf is pointless". Isn't that the whole purpose of this forum? Nearly every person here on this forum have never met, yet there is the educational and entertainment value to seek opinions, exchange thoughts and ideas. If this is all so pointless, why are you even bothering to be a moderator, let alone a participant?

I think he meant that, once you've narrowed your selection down to irons as broadly similar as MP-52s and AP2s, there's no point in asking for opinions on a forum because the decision will (or should) be based on purely personal factors. If I was answering the question, for example, I'd say: "Get the AP2s because you can see the cavity of the MP-52s in the long irons at address". But that advice probably won't help the original poster. It was something that bugged me when I tested the MP-52s, but it certainly isn't a problem for everyone. It's also so incidental that I wouldn't offer it up as advice to someone that I didn't know personally.

Current setup:

For all the talk about AP2 vs Mp 52 - besides myself and my teaching pro, ive never played with anyone that uses AP2 irons... I have yet to see anyone gaming MP 52's out on the links, either. Kinda weird.

My next irons will be AP2's. Or if Titleist releases a new generation by the time I get enough money.

    • We had a member of our senior club who developed a mental block on pulling the trigger. I played with him to see what the membership was talking about. I timed him a few times when he would get over the ball. 45 seconds. He knew he had a mental block and would chide himself, “Just hit it!” Once on the green he was okay and chipping was a bit better. It was painful to watch him struggle. Our “bandaid” was to put him in the last tournament  tee time with two understanding players. We should have suggested to him to take a break from our tournaments. I agree with the idea that when a player realizes they have a problem, the answer is to go fix it and not return until they are able to play at an acceptable pace.
