I play MP-57 irons. Best iron I've ever played. I chose them over the 52s and 62s.

Just a quick point. The MP57s have MORE OFFSET than the MP52s.

There's a not a big enough difference to warrant ALL CAPS...

Offset (in inches) (3 through PW): MP-52....MP-57....difference 3 iron 0.142.....0.161.....0.081 (8 one-hundredths) 4 iron 0.134.....0.154.....0.020 5 iron 0.134.....0.146.....0.012 6 iron 0.130.....0.138.....0.008 (8 one-thousandths) 7 iron 0.126.....0.130.....0.004 8 iron 0.126.....0.126.....0 9 iron 0.114.....0.114.....0 PW 0.114.....0.114.....0

Please dont flame me for this cuz my handicap is 19 and Im thinking about these irons... My handicap is 19 because I get up and down 1 time every other round and I putt 37 times a round...

They are both awesome clubs. I play the 57s and love them, and will probably never change them out, but a buddy of mine games the 52s and is equally fond of his set. They're very similar in both design and feel, and my personal opinion is that the 52s were merely Mizuno's attempt to update the 57s to get a new line out. Not too much of a substantive change at all. They're musclebacks, not true blades, and they're definitely both a player's club (e.g., easy to work) and forgiving enough for virtually anyone with decent hand-eye to play. I got mine when I was a 20, and they only have helped my game. Unless you have a huge preference one way or the other based on demo-ing them, I'd say "coin-toss."

I think 57's are my choice so far, anything else from other companies compare to these irons? Mizuno has a good reputation, thats why I have been demoing these the most, but Im open to all suggestions...

Let's start simple.

Nothing compares to a Mizuno. Of course, there are competing irons that are also what I like to call Swing Improvement Clubs. Ping's i10 - and probably their new i15 - are an example. So are Titleist AP2, Bridgestone J36 half-cavity, Nike VR half-cavity, and I'm pretty sure Adams, Cobra, Srixon, and TaylorMade have irons in this range too, but the model names slip my mind.

I compared the MP-52s against the MP-57s and MP-58s during demo days on Friday (hit them each for about 10 minutes). I purchased the MP-52s on the spot (retiring my Pings). I actually liked the look better of the MP-52s and the ball flight was more consistent then the 58s. The MP-57s are phased out now in favor of the MP-58s anyway so they aren't an option to order custom. I think they are both fantastic sticks. I am a 16 now, playing frequently, and will play these until I get to single digits and can blade it up. Just my 2 cents.

I went from my hogan musclebacks to the MP-52's. I really like the Mizuno's. its the first set of mizuno's i have owned and I really like them. I am at a 12 right now and will continue to play these till I am good enough again to put the hogans back in the bag. but you really can't go wrong with ANY of the mizuno irons..

You have a handicap similar to mine and I believe you could hit the mizuno's if you wanted to. The irons you pick should be on ballstriking ability, not your handicap. An 18 handicap like you could either have a great long game and a poor shot game or a poor long game but a fantastic short game, or someone in the middle. In terms of recommending clubs I personally like the MP-57's alot, however is not that forgiving when your swing is off. I haven't git the MP-52's but in theory they should launch higher and have a larger sweetspot due to the pocket cavity. Other clubs in the players cavity back category worth trying include the Nike VR Splitback and the Titlies AP2. Also, perhaps you could also try the new MX-300.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
