Hey All,
My name is Andrew and I am a golf-aholic...

Anyhow, just starting into golf this year after several years of playing infrequently. I am working hard to shoot bogey golf a couple times this year.

I enjoy building my own clubs, and play at least once a week, usually with a group of other hackers from work.

Found this site a few weeks ago and really enjoyed both the blogs and the forum conversations. Looking forward to contributing as best as I can.

Andrew

Maybe we can convince Erik to open a separate folder for clubmakers. I don't do it myself (two left hands ) but I do play around with different components in my clubs getting them put together by others...

actually - this is a long story - I probably will get yelled at by Erik by steering off the thread

Last february while playing in MB the weigth cartridge from my 510 flew out during a tee shot. Tee box was surrounded by tall rough, we never found it. Since I had the 510 with aldila in the garage - I didn't worry about it too much (almost selling for nothing the fuji shaft in the meantime... lucky I didn't). Couple weeks ago I had a golfoholic-impulse-buy... while shopping for gloves and balls at golfsmith.com some unexplained force clicked on the graffaloy bimetrix prototype pink shaft... I've no idea how that happen . Anyway - now I needed a clubhead. I sent my "weightless" driver to TM and they fixed it. Last night I went for a quick 9 after work and hit both drivers... and I noticed the fuji gives so much softer feel at impact, truely a butterly feel besides this head is 9.5, the one with aldila is 8.5 - trajectory was so much better - I forgot how much I liked this shaft! To finish that long story - I decided to re-shaft the 8.5 head, since the bimatrix promises higher launch than "usual" shaft - that should be a good experiment. The old trusty Fuji is back in service and doing well

    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
