This is going to be quite simple; me whining about V2 shafts. I think they are the most overrated shaft ever produced and just wanted to hear others feelings towards them. This shaft wasted my hybrid as i didn't swing it all summer because of it, also because i was too broke to reshaft it everytime i went to do so. And i don't want to here "if they're so bad, then why are they playing them on tour" because the only thing your V2 has in common with their V2s is the paint job (unless your clubmaker gets shafts from tour busses like mine, then have at me)

alrite, that felt good. i'll get back when i either reshaft it or am playing a 5-wood like old-man woods

Sorry you've had such a bad experience with the V2. Personally, I love the V2 in my 3W, but different shafts work for different people.

Just because it didnt work for you doesnt mean that it's overrated.

Do you have any ideas on what you're wanting to switch to?

I too hate v2 shafts... for me its either diamana or ping shafts for graphite.. I plan on replacing my driver to a true diamana blueboard soon as the demo day comes up

I have a blueboard in my 3-wood and absolutely love it. I think i'm going get a driver with a whiteboard next year. Either way i love diamanas and fujikuras. the rombax shafts are just crazy

The Rombax is crazy good or crazy bad? I have the Rombax shaft in the TM R7 Limited TP driver that came with the club and I feel it's a bit too whippy. It doesn't seem as stiff. I have also heard that the ones that have the TM label on it are not the same as the ones that are sold separately. I'm actually thinking about replacing the shaft.

Hate is a strong word. I have a Wilson Staff Fybrid with a stock R flex V2 shaft. The honeymoon period is over, but I still like the club and would recommend it. I just need to practice with it occasionally and not expect to pull it out on a tight hole and thread it between the traps.

Anyway, I only have 3 clubs with graphite shafts, a "Callaway BB UL Firm Flex" in a driver and a "Fukijura Red S" in my 3-wood. Of the 3, I'd guess the V2 is the least awesome.

I tried one in a Nike driver and thought it felt like crap... then I hit my friends Titleist with a V2 and it felt pretty good... so I guess it just depends... at least for me.

I hope now you understand why they have so many shafts available for us to choose. V2 works well for many people, but that doesn't mean it would work well for you. Try another brand, another shaft.

I don't hate the V2 shaft, I just don't like to work that hard to get it to work well. For me it was a all or nothing; if I went at the ball hard it worked well, if not it would usually leak right and be short. Its a very good shaft for higher swing speeds as most tip stiff shafts are. Anyway, its about what works for you, not what the pro's play on sunday

I can't say I absolutely hate the V2, but I liked it so little I yanked it out of my 3-wood and let the clubmaker keep the shaft pull. I found the V2 was great off the tee, but sucked (for me) off the fairway. 260 off the tee with my 3-wood, and pure cold top city from the fairway. I swapped in an Aldila DVS and am much happier. The V2 was stiffer than my driver shaft, and way stiffer than my hybrid shaft, and it messed with my timing.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
