Okay so I know that the new grooves regulation rules out the high spin "box grooves" on wedges, But what kind of irons would be illegal to play because of their "high spin" grooves, and what kind of grooves come on those irons? Im looking at buying a set of ping i's. so do the i10's and i15's both have "legal grooves" for the new rule, or just the i15? Any help here guys?

You're going to have to ask Ping... A lot of companies aren't stating these things explicitly yet.

And - no offense here - as a 12.0, I'm not sure it's going to matter that much to you if the grooves are legal or not. Not unless you're planning to try to qualify for the U.S. Amateur or something, and even then, you've still got four years.

Right from Ping's website: Sounds like the new G15\i15's are compliant but previous models are not.

"However, on August 5, 2008 the USGA and the R&A; announced a new rule regarding the allowable dimensions of grooves on these clubs. Since these specifications did not exist when our iron and wedge models were designed, most (including our current G5, G10, i10, S57, Rhapsody, Rapture and Rapture V2 iron models; and our current Tour-W wedges) do not meet the specifications of this new rule."
