and they look pretty sweet. In my opinion they look different then most other wedges. I think it might be that they have a smaller club head. Ive never had a mizuno wedge or even hit one but I might actually get one of these just because I like the look. Anyone else seen these?

Which ones are you talking about?? I have a 60* Mizuno R series and I plan on replacing my cleveland (56*), and buying a 52 to have laying around to interchange in and out of the bag. I'm curious, because I was actually getting ready to leave and go to the store to look at the 56 and the 52.

So I go to progolf yesterday and deal with some yahoo who I am pretty sure works on commision. I walk in an he says can i help you find anything. I told him i was looking for a 56* wedge and I'd like a Mizuno r series to match what i have now. He finds one that 54* and in the black nickel which I was looking for a 56* in the satin finish. I tell him no I'm looking for a 56 and he says to me "well I can bend it 2 degrees for you" I almost turned around and walked right out of the damn store.. I couldn't believe he actually said that to me. Oh well I know now I'll never shop at progolf again.

I don't understnd, whats wrong with that?

Every degree of loft you change, it also changes the bounce by the same degree. If you bend a club 2* weak, you add 2* of bounce. 2* stronger loft, you take 2* of bounce off the club. Bounce is arguably more important than loft when it comes to wedges.

what he said. i was just kind irritated that i went in there ready to buy a new wedge and this guy wanted to modify one to suit what i needed instead of even offering to order me one. If he would have told me I can order you one and it be here before Friday I would;ve paid in full right then and there, but the fact he made it clear he wanted to make a sale no matter what it was made me mad. I could understand if it was a rare wedge, or an odd ball loft/bounce etc, but a 56* wedge is a pretty common wedge.

Wouldn't that essentially make a 54 with low bounce (never seen a 54.14) into a 56 with 12 degrees. I have bent some of my wedges and I don't see any difference in the way they perform except 5-10 yards longer.

I would bet a small fortune that the only players that could tell a performance difference between a vokey 58.08 and vokey a 60.08 bent to 58 is on tour. I have both right now. I got the SM 58 because it is was on sale and I love spin around the greens and it was time for an update.

Yeah, a 54.10 bent 2 degrees weak would be a 56.12. Most people probably wouldn't see a big difference. I think like he was saying, it's more the principle than anything.

I'd agree probably that your average player wouldn't notice the difference of 2 degrees. Most people don't know how to turn a 90 yard swing into an 80 yard swing either... my point being that the average once a week or twice a month golfer doesn't know his yardages all that well. Personally, I do notice the difference between a 60 and a 58 as far as distance/trajectory control. I tried a new wedge setup with a 60 and just couldn't get used to it so I went back to the 58 since I was used to my yardages with that loft.

Back to the OP's statement though... I dig the look of the new wedges. I think that Satin looking finish is sweet... and the raw black is sick looking. But looking down on them at address, they look a lot like most other wedges available. The remind me of my old Cleveland RTG wedges. I actually prefer the slightly more boxy look of the current Mizuno Wedge offerings. I guess they just seem to blend better from my irons...

Nevertheless, they're sweet looking. I'm just hoping to find out what they plan on offering that will have conforming grooves!

you hit the nail right on the head. the reason i was irritated was this guy was just trying to make a sale right then and there buy selling me a new club that would need to be modified to be what i wanted originally, when he could have very well just ordered one to spec and i would have bought it then. Might have to wait till the weekend and hit up a golfsmith(ugh) to take a look at these new mizuno wedges. They look pretty nice on there website.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
