Balls - wear them out or lose them?

If a ball is really scuffed i usually but it in a separate pocket in my bag an use it latter in the round on holes where i have a higher probability of loosing a ball. Like a tight hole with lots of OB or lots of water. I also save them for those rounds where i'm really spraying the ball all over the place. That way i don't feel so bad about just dropping another ball when i can't find mine, to keep the round moving.

Just a bit of advice - this is a bad mindset. you shouldn't be thinking about bad shots as this tends to create bad shots

If I scuff one up real bad I'll pay it till the end of the round, then take it out of the bag at home. They stay in the bag until they have at least 5 scuffs, since I'm not at the level where I need to get a new ball after every few holes, nor can I afford to. As long as the scuffs don't really make the ball roll bad on putts, it's all good.

I just use a ball until I use it... I'll usually go through two or three a round.

I allow myself one ProV1 a round. It's about 50/50 if I lose it or retire it. After a few strikes with the wedge, it gets pretty ugly. An ugly ProV1 still performs well or at least well enough where a player at my level can't tell the difference.
