I don't think clubs or balls under normal circumstances would rust because of playing in the rain. Maybe if the clubheads or shafts had deep abrasions or scratches...

No & No.

Wipe clubs dry after a round in the rain. Don't worry about the balls.

Moisture is an normal part of the game.

Have you ever played an early morning round? The course is saturated...your clubheads get soaked.

Like the above posts....wipe them dry with a towel and keep on playing.

Will they rust.....yes if they are carbon steel and the coating/plating is damaged.

No the clubs will not rust. Just make sure you try your best to keep them dry. Wipe them off with a towel after you hit a shot.
Nothing will happen to a ball if played in the rain, they are made to withstand some rain.

i usually try to wipe the clubs and balls off if they're wet. Maybe if you keep them in your car normally you might want to bring them inside if they got really wet from rain to help dry them out. I wipe the golf balls off because stuff will stick to them if they're wet and its just annoying if they are. Golf clubs are made to be tough, most irons are stainless steel which isnt supposed to rust and hybrids and fairway clubs are graphite shafts which is unaffected by moisture and either steel or titanium club heads. I worry more about damaging my equipment from striking the ground too hard or hitting tree roots or something or hitting off hard dirt or where there are rocks, which happens when you hit bad shots and the ball goes where it shouldnt instead of the fairway or green. If they're good quality clubs they should last many years and by then they're somewhat outdated and you're wanting to upgrade to new clubs.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
