I'm a big fan of the Cleveland Classic series. I have the Cleveland Classic 1, and I love it.

It has a milled face, no insert, great feel. For $60-$70 brand new, it's a hard one to beat, IMO.

The best thing you can do is go to a local course or golf store which stocks putters and just try every single thing they have and find out what you like. Asking these types of questions here will typically just get you responses from people telling you what they currently use which won't help you since everyone has different tastes.

This. I recently went into my local shop with the intention of buying an Anser 2 I'd loved the last time I was there, but ended up leaving with a Yes! Tracy after about 30 minutes of putting on the carpet. Just pick up anything and everything within your price range and hit balls~

I love the ping craz-e putter and you might be able to find one second hand now for 50-60. Or try the odessy two ball putters there going for nothing these days.

When I was playing around with putters the Karsten Series was my second place putter. It was close between that and the CC1, but decided I liked the Cleveland a little bit better.

So, what you do is go to a course or golf store that stocks putters and try everything they have and see what you like. THEN once you've found something you see if you can find it used on eBay or in the used club bin at the golf store.

A lot of Odyssey models are in the $100 or less range so maybe just go try everything Odyssey has to offer and see if they have something you like.

okay thanks i like the used club bin idea. ill go check that out and a couple golf stores near me either tommorow or friday

As in THE original Ping Anser, the first one Ping did? Of some other early Anser? You may want to look around for a valuation, as some of the early Pings are quite collectible and command a pretty high price. Who knows, you may find you can profit handsomely in this deal and not worry about finding a budget putter.

+1 the Craz-e G2 or G5 are my favorite mallet type putters... absolutely fantastic feel and alignment is impossible to miss. I was great inside 10ft with this putter... swithed back to a more blade like putter because I am better with long putts and also feel like they accomodate my pendelumn stroke better.

try these places for good deals... all three sites have tons of putters under $100. Callaway Pre-owned Rock Bottom Golf 3Balls Golf

To add to the list,

Global Golf is pretty good too for used equipment.

Go and try every one out, even the stuff outside your price range. Once you know what you want, go looking around online or elsewhere for used stuff - thats what I did. I was messing around at Dick's when I found one that was just perfect for me, but $120+ was out of my price range. I stumbled upon one on ebay a few days later for $70 bucks. I lucked out since it was basically new, the seller labeled it used cause it was a floor/display model. Either way, putters are the safest thing to buy used since they don't tend to wear out.

Playing regularly again after a few years off. Started playing in 1999.

    • Day 33 (13 Dec 25) - Worked on weight shift and resetting the left heel during downswing (after listening to a discussion on Golf School this morning on PGA Tour Radio).  It centered on how Jack Nicklaus lifted his lead heel and how long driver champs do as well.  Taking cues from that discussion, worked an exaggerated feel of the left heel working doing some swing drill in the backyard using the 7i.  Wrapped up the session by hitting a few low bump and run shots in the backyard - keeping the process slow and exaggerated.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
