I just picked one up on a whim through ebay for $30.00. Supposedly, only used in three rounds. It will work nicely with my 58 degree Callaway X forged wedge and my Callaway X-18 PW.

I wanted a 52 degree but this one will work just fine.

Hopefully, the zip grooves are as advertised since my home course has greens that seem to be bikini waxed. Stopping even the softest ball is all but impossible.

The wedge is already paid for, so it's a little late to get advice on whether to buy it. I just needed to crow a little about my new purchase. To be honest, I have dreamed of Cleveland wedges since I was a kid and couldn't afford them. Having one in the bag will be nice.

Next, I plan on picking up a 60 degree wedge to replace my 58 degree Callaway.

New golf gear is fun stuff.

Awesome! I love throwing out low ball bids on ebay just to see if they make it. Usually they dont last long but sometimes you can score a deal.

congrats on the purchase! CG12s are definitely nice, my course's proshop is selling a new one for $120 I believe so you definitely got a steal, not sure why someone would want to sell one of those unless they are a ••••• for the newest gear with some disposable income. I want to pick up a nike SV tour wedge in 54 degrees but just cant seem to pull the trigger, you may have inspired me to search ebay though ;)

Nice! I got 3 CG-12's at the beginning of this season (52, 56, 60) and I love them.

The only downfall I came across was hitting full shots from the fairway the zip grooves had so much bite that I was tearing up the covers on my Pro-V1x's... After 3 or 4 full shots struck right I couldn't really even use the ball anymore! I switched to Bridgestone Tour B330's which give me the same amount of action but seem to hold up better on my wedges. Dunno if you'll see the same thing, but thought I'd give my 2cents at least.

Great wedges though, I still remember the first time I hit one and spun it back 10-15 ft, it feels pretty sweet.

If you go to Ebay right now, there are a couple selling for around $30, although the auction has a couple of hours left.

I'm tempted to try and pick up the 60degree version that is listed right now. I don't know whether to take a chance or wait until the one I ordered gets here. The auction doesn't end for a couple of hours so I have time to think about it.

This is the first great deal I've gotten on Ebay since my callaway x-18s a couple of years ago. Usually, someone outbids me right at the end of the auction. Still, I was happy to win this one.

My home course has hard fast greens so spin is a premium to score well there. Plus, I found the 58 degree sand wedge isn't the best for bunker shots near the green. There is just too much loft. So the 54 seems like a good compromise.

Great deal on the Nike and Vokey. Enjoy. I'm curious to hear how the Nike works out. They are on sale at my local Dick's for $69. My hope is the Cleveland works out and I can pick up a 60 degree in the near future.

Growing up, Cleveland wedges were the pinnacle and I never could afford one and made due with bargain barrel wedges. Nice sob story, right?

Anyway, I fell into this one at a great price so I will finally have one in my bag. I like to carry the same brand wedges, if possible, so I will either like the Cleveland and get one to replace my 58 degree Callaway, or trade the Cleveland on a 52 or 54 degree Callaway.

Either way, it should be fun.

Got the Cleveland out today and was truly impressed. The ball hit the greens and stopped quickly. On one full swing shot it did tear the hell out of my ball, but that doesn't bother me.

    • Good advice. In general, you want to take whatever weight you are lifting to a couple of reps before failure, for muscle growth. There are other tactics for PT related stuff. I would trust your PT person.  For muscle growth, you can go like 30 reps to failure. It is tougher to gauge. Also, it takes 2x as long to do the same number of working sets per week if you are doing 15 instead. It is way less efficient, but your case is special because of the injury/aggravation to the hip.
    • Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
    • Caution for the seniors on weight training: Listen to your body. (I'm 75) I got a recent session with an orthopedist after a training-related injury. I put too much weight on a new resistance machine at the gym and ended up with bursitis in my left hip. Of course, it's the hip I dislocated back in 2023. I have my first physical therapy session tomorrow. I remarked that some days I can do 45 lbs. chest press - two sets - without much effort. But other days it drops down to 30 (😩) with just one set. (Complicating factor: I had digestive problems in this fall and lost about 20 lbs., with slip in muscle tone.) Orthopedist said that I want to feel some resistence, but that I should go with lots of reps with manageable weights rather than trying to set some sort of lift-pound record. I'm sure I'll get some refinements on lifting during tomorrow's PT.
