Yeah I was going to chime in and ask about that price, too. I pay 50 bucks for about an hour with my pro. We use video review (which I love). Anyways, you have to be committed to this in order to see any results. At first, I thought I would just take one lesson and I'd be good to go. (I was way wrong.) Changes like this will take me well into next year. Ive had four lessons since late July and just now have begun to swing the club back on plane. You'll be getting into positions where you'll think to yourself "this can't possibly be right". Just trust it and practice it.

I wouldn't pay Hank Haney that much money for one hour

No you wouldn't, because if you tried he'd laugh and walk away.

To the OP - do whatever you want, and if you feel like you're getting ripped off tell him up front you were expecting more for the price and you feel like you could do better elsewhere. Maybe he'll listen, maybe he'll tell you - tough cookies. Golf is about as expensive a sport to take up as any. It's more of a disease, really. We could all get on pretty well with cheaper clubs and balls, play shitty courses, and drink the free water at courses instead of paying $3/beer (+ tip for the hot girl).... but we don't. What's Pebble Beach up to now $495 if you're staying there? Spending money is as much a part of the game as putting.

Heres the thing fellas. I looked around and also ask many people who I play golf with and many have went to this one instructor. All well recommended. Like I said earlier, this all depends financially. I just got a few bills that came in this week so its questionable. Here in NJ, the cheapest Ive heard for lessons was 40 a half an hour. Thats it. No video analysis or anything you guys previously mentioned. Once I get my lessons going, ill bring this thread back up and let you guys know the results.

It doesn't matter who is teaching you. If you can't break 80, then you don't need an amazing instructor. I don't have a license to teach, but I could definitely help you drop at least ten strokes from just teaching you fundamentals. Pay the cheapest instructor until you learn the main fundamentals. Once you get the basics and hit a "plateau" in your game, then you might want to worry about the instructor and pay some more money. But even then, $100 is pricey.

We're 5 handicappers, but we're not qualified to do shit. The only things we do differently is we strike the ball only slightly better and manage our games around the course with a little more savvy. Let's not make ourselves more than what we really are.

To the Andy Samberg fan, do what you want. For your area, $100 is not outrageous and you did the right thing by getting recommendations. Peace!
