Getting out of hard/wet sand....

Any techniques on getting out of hard/wet sand?

I lost a few strokes today because I was in traps that were firm because they had been rained on..

Hitting 2 inches behind the ball resulted in BAD skulls both times.....

I guess the club couldnt dig cuz the sand was hard, so whats the technique in this situation??

if its real hard i try to pick it clean

I play munis regularly and the sand is often hard. Chunk and run works well. Hit two inches behind. But instead of skipping the bounce of the club through the sand, hit down and through.
