kleraudio,

If you're interested in the MPF system, look for Ralph Maltby's book, The Maltby Playability Factor - Book 1-Irons from 2005. (ISBN = 0-927956-12-8)

Golf Galaxy is selling out this early version for about $2 a book (it's a steal). This full-color book compares modern clubs with a range of clubs from the 20th century. And, it tells you how to compute the MPI. (It is a 6-step math equation).

MPI calculations are still confusing to me, which is why I've never tried to analyze individual MPI measurements for a given club on this blog. I just know the MPI total score is a starting point for comparing clubs on user-friendliness.

I understand VCOG (Vertical Center of Gravity) measurement. The lower the VCOG, the higher launch the ball gets (i.e., thick soles on Big Bertha irons). The rest, I'm still working on.

Focus, connect and follow through!

I have the MP 60s and they are very similiar to the 57s. They are not very forgiving at all. If you miss you loss alot of yards quick. I am actaually waiting on my new irons. I am going to something more forgiving. My belief regarding these is if you aren't a GOOD 8-10 and shot around 80 or less hobitually, these will hurt your scoring average. I have no confidence from140 yards and beyond. The misses leave me in such tough up and down situations. I will use objective data. Before irons HCI 8.0 after 1 year 11.0.

If you can put alot of time in the game, play 3 times a week, I am sure the results would be better than mine.

I am getting the Titleist 775s tomorrow.

Some of you guys have me thinking that I cant game these 57's yet??

Thanks!

I don't know yet. They are a discontinued model. They have oversized long irons and midsize short irons.

I think the mx 300s look great and I would get them but they are not available in wrong handed.

I would be wary of going to a "players" iron. I thought I was a pretty decent player but they expose my greatest weakness. I have a good short game and a good driver of the ball, iron play is weak. If this is your strength then they might really work for you. I don't buy into the myth that if you get a less forgiving iron you suddenly will strike it better. You will have worse results because they are so unforgiving when struck towards the toe or high on the blade.

I made the mistake because I got a great deal and the are great looking.

I now have a set that I have no confidence with and has hurt other areas of my game.

i wouldn't necessarily put those clubs in the "forgiving" category. But i think youll find the feel of the Mp 57 will allow you to tell what you are doing more so and youll be able to make adjustments that way

you already own 60s which are slightly less forgiving than the MP57s there is no reason to get rid of em. just go to the range a bit more and get used to em.

Well I just played a round with a set of 57's that I demoed from edwin watts. project X 6.0 shafts...

I only used the irons and putter and I played the best golf of my life! My iron play is my strong suit, so I am really happy with these clubs!
