Pulled the trigger

Well pulled the trigger on my iron purchase. I hit several demo irons and liked them all. The Mizuno's MX-200 felt nice and distance was good. TM R7s was nice and when you connected felt great and ball flew. My expectations of the Burners i think was too high as i was a little disappointed in them. I just could not get a consistently good hit with them. I was going with the Mizuno's when a salesman reiterated that i should try the Clevelands, 200 dollars cheaper and get a free set in a couple years, had to at least test them. After a few hits they were sizing me for the Clevelands CG 7s. On good hits they hit the ball great with very good distance, was right there with the longest of the ones tested, keep in mind i couldn't get a good hit with the 09 burners. On miss hits, the Clevelands were very forgiving and you could still salvage a decent hit, had one of the best feelings on miss hits. Mizuno felt as good but just seemed less forgiving. So I opted to go with the Clevelands over the Mizuno for 200 cheaper and scored some cleveland wedges with the money i save.

Now my bag includes TM Burner 07 driver, Cleveland Launcher Fairway woods (3 and 5), Cleveland CG 7 irons (4-PW), Cleveland CG14 wedges (50, 54, and 58). I would never had guessed i would have pulled so much Cleveland gear, I really was stuck on TM, Nike and Mizuno when i committed to building my bag. But cost and performance kept bringing me back to the Cleveland gear.

Now the last piece I want to put in my bag is a 3 hybrid. Cant hit my 3 iron worth a darn and have a gap in my distances. I really wanted a Ping G10 21 degree hybrid, but they don't make them anymore and I cant find one in any local store. I am narrowing my hybrid purchases between the Callaway Diablo, Cobra Baffler TWS, the Launcher again, and the TM Burner rescue hybrid (though i do not like the fact they have a 19 and not a 20 or 21). Anyone have any input on these or have one they can recommend. Once hybrid is in the bag, its complete and looking forward to spending a many holes getting familiar and playing the gear. For the hybrids:

The Cobra DWS (2007) hybrids are fantastic clubs so I would assume the same about the TWS. You definately can't go wrong with a DWS or TWS. They have great forgiveness, trajectory(very high for me), and looks in my opinion.

i play the r7 tp's and having a bit of trouble with them lately. tried the mx-300 and loved the feel. just wondering if there's any insight from anyone that's tried them both out on the range or on the course.

Congrats!
The only thing I have against the Cleve irons is the "Cleveland" logo on the soles. Imagine having to clean 7 or 8 clubs with such a huge logo on the sole. Very difficult and annoying.

I love the Baffler 20*. Getting ready to order the 23* 4 hybrid today w/ my winnings from our club championship. Very easy to hit w/ a med/high trajectory and slight workability. I am amazed at how softly the ball lands on the green w these hybrids.

Just picked up a Wilson Fybrid 19.5-Looks nice and feels good. But just showed up today so will hit tomorrow. Oh yea price was good also.

Congrats on the new irons. As for the hybrid, I picked up a used Callaway X 3H to replace my 3 iron, but I hit it much longer than my X-18 3 iron. So, I kept it in the bag to replace my really old Golfsmith XPC 5 wood.

The moral of the story being just because it says 3H on the club it doesn't mean you won't hit it farther, or shorter than your current 3 iron. If given the chance hit it in concert with the club one longer and one shorter in your bag.

That way you don't end up like me. Granted, it worked out but only through luck. Had the 3H not been longer distance wise than my old 5 wood I would have had a huge gap distance.

For a hybrid, the TM Burner Rescue is a great one...and easy to hit. I also have a Bobby Jones hybrid and I love it. It's easy to hit...even out of the rough.

I'm surprised you passed on the Mizuno's. I'm now playing the MX 300's and I love them. Nothing beats the Mizuno forged feel, they have enough forgiveness and it's a set I can keep growing into.

Thanks for input on hybrid. On the Mizuno's, to be honest, they felt good, but distance was no further than any other club i tested, mishits felt alright, in line with Clevelands, and didn't seem to fly as far on the mishits as some of the other clubs. They were $100-200 more than the other clubs I tested, and without any promotions. The looks were good...some of the best looking clubs i looked at, but looks was very low on my priorities. I understand they are forged and everyone liked the feel of the forged irons. However, the Clevelands felt just as good, maintained relatively good distance on mishits, ball went as far or further, were 200 dollars less (wedge money), and i get a new pair in the next two years for free. Really wasn't a hard decision once I hit them and did the math. So far I am pretty happy with my purchase, however, just changed a couple things in my iron swing that is killing me...cant wait until i get comfortable with the changes. Again, thanks for feedback and hope u enjoy your 300s...nice clubs as well.
