So, I'm ecstatic with my Baffler DWS 4h. I got it a couple months ago, tops, and it's already my favourite club in the bag. The action is perfect, feedback is great, and my confidence with it is astronomical.

So I decided to get another one.

The dilemma I'm in is that I bought my original 4h used, because frankly I don't have the money to pop £100 on a shiny club when I can get a slightly less shiny one for £60 that does the same thing. The big issue is that the only one I can find in the spec I want is the old (old or different? I'm not really sure) model without the DWS system.

My question is, would this have a massive influence on the club and thus my swing? The shaft is exactly the same, but without the DWS in the clubhead would it change too much?

Logic says it really shouldn't, and I'm being a dumbass, but I thought I'd confirm it before I took the plunge.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I've got a 20 degree Baffler, the one just before the DWS model. It looks the same, and in my opinion, plays the same. DWS is just some weight added to the corners of the club, and while it may make a small statistical difference in robotic testing, I saw no difference on the range. I think my baffler is one of the best clubs in my bag, and it will take a lot to replace it.

Yeah, my hunch was that the DWS (and further on, the TWS) was more cosmetic and psychological than an overhaul of club technology. I think most importantly for me is trying to replicate the action of my current DWS baffler, but in reality I'm not exactly good enough yet to warrant the requirement of such precision buying

I think I'll take the plunge. I can't imagine it feeling like a different club to such an extent I feel different swinging it~ Thanks for the reply!

I am been looking for some hybrids myself. I have test driven the TM Rescue '09, the Adams A4, and the Cobra DWS. I am also interested in trying the Nike SQ as well, since a few people on here really like them.

My initial impressions were:

1. TM
2. Adams
3. Cobra
? Nike

BudgetGolf.net has the A4's on closeout for on $69, and its very hard not to jump on it. I bought my TM r7 irons from them earlier this year.

    • I can see a point in this.  If you play a straigth 3 footer with a square face aiming at the hole, you can miss both ways, with a close face or an open one. If you aim rigth an close the face at impact (like tiger used to do), physically you can still miss left or rigth but mentally you are only missing left (closed face) and having only 1 miss can give you a boost in confidence. I putt this way on fade putts and aim left and open the face on draw putts, never liked the uncerteinty of putting square to the target.  I apply something like this on approach shots, only use low or high shots and for middle shots I use a low shot with more loft ot a high shot with less loft. This shots are always what they meat low or high, a middle one can go a little towards the high and the low depending on the AoA of each shot making it mentally a little more uncertain what is going to be.
    • Yeah, I'm not sure if he is genuine or not either but that's not why I'm giving him props.
    • I really liked this videos.    I wonder about how to effitiently apply force to the handle of the club on the downswing.  Me personally used to apply force to the grip in the direction off the ball. I had a very steep angle of attack with my hands to the ball.  After looking at this videos I started to apply force downwards in the beginning of the backswing and then towards the flag/target when I was about to hit the ball.  After looking at pro players, they all start to lift their hands before hitting the ball. I don't know if it is because of pushing with their left leg up or because they apply force upwards to the grip when they reach the ball, or something else?
    • I'm pro BDC because of his scientific approach to golf, but I don't think he is been genuine since he started youtube and had this goal to be liked by all.    Congrats to scotty, yes is boring to watch a major when only 1 player is in contention, but the man is crushing it, he is making it look easy despite playing against the elite of golf.
    • Sure, anything recent though (like in the last year or two) or are we sentencing him for life with no possibility of parole?
