I am trying to help my friend dial in his 9.5* R9 460. He has an outside to in swing path and hits a massive high slice. So, I've checked out TM's website and the book the driver came with but it can be somewhat confusing. When you close the face on the driver it will increase the trajectory of the golf ball. If you open the face it is supposed to decrease the trajectory. How is this supposed to help someone w/ a high left to right ball flight? Where would be a good starting point?

That true if you subsequently set the ball up to square again. In other words, if you close the clubface by rotating the shaft a bit more forward and towards the toe, and then subsequently square it up at address, it'll be more lofted.

Just close the clubface and have him hit pulls all day, or add in a little bit of "upright" to help him as well.

Or, y'know, tell the guy to spend money on lessons instead of an R9... Slices plague too many people.

I have only recently started getting rid of my slice bit-by-bit. But sometimes I just forget the fundementals and do nothing but come over-the-top. But at least now I can tell what I've done wrong. Before, I used to think I was swinging top notch and had no idea what was causing the slice.

Will give that a try Eric. He would rather spend money on a new driver than a lesson. He had a place tell him that they wanted to break him completely down and rebuild his swing.
That is too much of a commitment for most.

swinging out to in = slice and turning the 460 head to L is going to do nothing except cause a snap hook when he hits it right. or make his slice go 40 yds right instead of 60.
