Question about Vokey wedges and degree # location

I was wondering why some Vokey wedges have the degree number on the toe of the head, and why some have it on the bottom of the head. I just assumed the location determined what kind of sole grind each has. What are those differences?

the two pictures you have are for different years but I have the same thing on my two Vokeys. My 54 is just like the 56 while I have that same exact 58. The reason is the grind on the higher lofted wedges to make it easier to open the club and relieve the heel and toe. The number is therefore put on the side because it would (I'm guessing here) affect the playability. All the other vokey wedges had a normal sole grind, it's just the higher lofted ones that have the same grind as the C-GRIND wedges Callaway makes.

Ahh I see. So it is partly because of a different grind. The reason I am asking is because I found a nearly new 60.04 Vokey wedge at my local shop for $70. The grooves look basically brand new. I was just confused about the number being on the toe, I had never seen that before.

yea its because of the different grinds if you go to the vokey website it details all the grinds and has pics.
