  1. 1. Which Driver?

    • Cleveland Launcher
      23
    • Mizuno MX-700
      8

I'm afraid it's time to let my ol' girl (Sasquatch) down. 2 years, and she's all beat up.

I probably will be getting a "new" driver this Christmas. I've narrowed it down to a couple of options.

One is the newest Launcher from Cleveland. I hit the ball lowish off of the tee, and this says that the launch angle is very high. 5 stars in performance, 4 1/2 in feel. Doesn't seem to get talked about much, but seems like a nice driver.

The other option is the MX-700 from Mizuno. I read a good review from TST about this driver. Seems to launch the ball nice and high with minimal spin.

Any thoughts on these two drivers? I was also thinking about the '09 Burner, but 46.25"? That's a bit much.

i had the 09 burner and it really didnt feel that long at all, then again i guess it depends on height, im like 6'1-6'2 with my golf shoes on.

I would have to vote the cleveland juct because I dont know anything about the mizuno woods. I personally though do not like the Cleveland driver, its way to big and I just dont like the head on it. If I was able to get a new driver it would be between the Titleist 909 DComp, Cobra S9-1 and the TaylorMade R9 which is a great looking diver. I have tried the Adams Speedline and its was actually a nice driver with good launch and feel.

I've tried both...and boyyyy the Mizuno is amazing!!!!

Considered the Dymo? It's pretty good...imho certainly much better than the Sumo. I picked the Dymo2 over the Mizuno.

Ive hit the mizuno at a demo day and it was stunning.... Very easy to hit and was long and straight... unfortunately the wallet didnt agree at the time.

I currently play a Hibore XLS and its 95% of the club for 50% of the cost (at the time I was buying anyway) Not sure if its related to the launcher though

Basically cant lose

Cleveland Launcher, no doubt. That is the driver I am currently hitting, and hit has by far the hottest face of any driver I have hit (And I hit about every 2009 model when I was fit for the driver.) It is workable, and very forgiving on off center hits. I know I love the driver and the 3 wood that I have currently.

Have not hit the Mizuno, but have hit the Launcher. I did not like the feel or bulkiness of the launcher IMO. To each his own.

    • Announcing;  it bugs me when they ask “Are you proud of yourself?”  “Are you proud of the way you played?”  “Are you proud of this or that?”  In what other sport do the announcers-interviewers ask this annoying question? And then the golfers have to answer… “I was really proud of myself when.. yada yada" Tyrell Hatton, 16th hole;  Following his reaction to his tee shot, after his first putt I thought his head was going to explode.  He’s kinda entertaining that way, I think he’s the top contender for ‘most likely to explode'
    • Update on my prediction!  Standing by it, regardless of my mangling of the divorce item in point #3. As to where we stand, Rory’s turnaround, wow.  His talent is undeniable, and as he puts it himself - he’s resilient.
    • Not sure what you’re referring to? Raising my hand on the Rory divorce point - I got that wrong, looks like they’ve reconciled, good for him.  And I’ll concede this undermines the third point in my analysis as to why he won’t win a Masters.   However, what other simple facts did I get wrong?
