Ok for two weeks now I have been hitting nothing but the hosel, I can't stop.

I cannot get one instructor to take my damn money on a regular basis and it's got me ready to quit before I ever really get started.

Is it bad luck or do golf pros really just do this shit part time? Third cancellation in three weeks by 3 people. What the mother ••••.....

Try different ranges/clubs until you find one...

Post up a video man. We'll be glad to see what's going on. A few different things can cause a shank. The most common is "sliding" through the ball rather than turning.

It sounds like something very simple that can be easily corrected that you don't know your doing.

Video of yourself or go to the web and see what is the possible problems are, wait a minute! why not have Hank Haney, Tiger's swing coach help you with the shanks below:




just remember its clear sailing after you get pass shanking the ball, so hand in there and enjoy the game. We have all done it one time or another, I know I have even just recently.

Finding pros...

Look for a practice range with several pros on staff. These places often will offer lesson packages (three or four for $XX). The pros who work there need good time management, because it's a no-no to "stand up" a lesson date. The occasional pros who have jerked you around are sometimes in the occasional status because they have authority issues about regular work schedules.

Also... Some golf superstores have PGA-certified pros who offer lessons which include a video summary mailed to your home computer. These stores let you go online to schedule individual lessons once you buy the package. Thus, you and the pro both know when lesson day is.

If the pro tells you to "drop me an e-mail" for between lesson questions, this is a good sign too.

      So excited you made it out! I live in Portland and go most springs. If you liked Sheep's Ranch you ain't seen nothing yet. It's incredibly picturesque and with a 2 club wind it's not a cake walk. But as far as the quality of the course in terms of challenge and interest, in my opinion it's easily the worst on the property! Also, Old Mac started as my least favorite (this was before Sheep's Ranch opened). But I listened to the fried egg podcast about it and read through Doak's descriptions and it totally changed my perspective. Now it's fighting for top spot. So excited for you!
