I see this infomercial and against all my better judgement, I want to order one. Anyone tried or heard anything about this weighted driver training aid? Seems logical that it could help timing/tempo/power, but hey, I am brainwashed after watching the clever infomercial which featured Butch Harmon and Brandon Chamblee. Any thoughts?

really does help drop the club in the slot ... it's so bleeping heavy it's a huge pain in the ass to lift it up and come over the top.

I have a lead sleeve I can put onto a club shaft that does similar things.

One caution: Avoid using it too much on days when you play; the extra weight can mess up your hip turn as you try to keep your balance. Make sure the restricted weight shift doesn't spread to your on-course swing that day.

Thanks for the input. I ordered the 310 model from the Momentus website. I figured, what the hell. It could help. I like the fact that you can actually hit balls with it, that will keep it fun atleast. If nothing else, should be a good way to get the golf muscles loosened up a bit. I am particularly curious if it will effect my timing/tempo. God, I hope so:)

picked up the power hitter driver, iron, and L wedge at a pawn shop for 75 dollers! haha what a steal. these are all great especially the driver and iron they really loosen you up, and when you pick your driver back up it feels EXTREMELY weird at first! but just swing it a few times and hit balls and itll blow your mind! just keep your head down and dont swing to hard just keep the same tempo and youll see how much better you clubhead comes through the ball and your distance. great product!

My dad has the old momentus driver (that you couldn't hit balls with). He definitely picked up some yardage due to a few extra miles per hour in the swing. It has the proper grip built into it which is nice too. It is a good way to get a few swings in when you don't have time to play or get to the driving range and keep those golf muscles loose.

I have been using the Momentus iron (same thing as the driver you have seen) for the last 8 years.

It is a great tool to strenghten your musles. Since you swing slower the club seems to go more in its desired plane, which also helps your muscles memorize the correct path and fix some minor deviances in your swing...

It is no gimmick, it works.

But don´t hit balls with it. I almost screwed up mine doing it (at least my 8 year old version of it). And try to get the iron version, which you can use inside the house. The driver may be too long...

Please don´t swing while I´m talking !!

    • Day 27 - 2026-01-16 Played 18 with some of the usual "too many voices" going on when I'm working on swing stuff. Fun to get out in great bay area winter weather.
    • I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.
    • No one in the world is as smart as Phil thinks he is.
    • Get more comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you don’t like practicing then give up now. You don’t have the passion to become a pro. Unless that mentality changes you won’t do well under stressful situations.    Call the PGA Tour and ask. They probably have resources available.
