How did Hogan hit his fade.

I've read "The five lessons..." several times and don't clearly understand how Hogan hit his fade. There is much debate on this topic.

Some say he accomplished his flight pattern with supination.
Others say he aimed left and hit a push fade.
Some say he hit a pull fade.

In one of Leadbetter's books, he describes an in to in swing path with a slightly open club face.

What do you believe?

I belive he swung, in to out, with an open face. I dont think he did as a result of swing path, per sea. His plane was too flat to hit a fade without manipulating the face. If you look closley at old photos of him swinging, he has his lead wrist cupped at the top in nearly all of them. That will leave it open when he brings it back down.

i think it was a push fade....i read the same book you did....i understood it as a push fade...

Yeah, a push fade. Very, very, very few of the game's top golfers who fade the ball hit a pull-fade. Azinger is one of them.

That was my understanding also, that he fanned the club face open on his back swing.
