Does anyone know if the Callaway FT-IZ replace the FT-IQ? It seems its listed on the Callaway Australia site but not yet under the US site. Would this still be classified as a "Square Head" driver? TIA

Thanks Cody! Looks like its half FT-9 and half FT-IQ. I've been a big fan of the FT-I and then onto the FT-IQ, but I am not too sure about this IZ. I guess I got to wait for the regular joes to chime in instead of listening to tour pros on Ytube.

No problem. How do you find the FT-iQ stacks up against the FT-i? I'm debating on whether or not I should take my trusty FT-i out of the bag.

I didn't like the FT-iQ... not a terrible club, just not one I would buy... much prefer my FT-i Tour LCG

I would like to hit the FT-9 Tour and Adams Speedline... both should be comming WAY down in price here pretty soon. Honestly though... I love the shaft on this driver and I don't see switching next year unless something rocks me.
My Clubs: Callaway FT-i Tour LCG 9.5° w/ Matrix Ozik Xcon 6 stiff; Sonartec GS Tour 14° w/ Graphite Design Red Ice 70 stiff; Adams Idea Pro 2h(18°) & 3h(20°) w/ Aldila VS Proto 80 stiff; Adams Idea Pro Forged 4-PW w/ TT Black Gold stiff; Cleveland CG12 DSG RTG 52°-10° & 58°-10°; Odyssey...

Cody,

I had the FT-I and loved it, including the big bang that comes with it (although a lot of people seemed to hate it). But I got such a good deal on the IQ when it came out, I couldnt pass it up. Well, with the new FT-IZ coming out, there is no doubt in my mind that you'll probably find a great deal on the IQ. If you make the leap, I would suggest to go with the tour version cause the non-tour seems super closed at address. Also the tour version allegedly has a real Fubuki shaft versus a Fubuki by Callaway shaft.

The FT-iz is the replacement for the FT-iq. Callaway is making this move to get away from the square head. The iz will have the highest MOI of any Callaway driver offered, just like the iq but without the square style.
Bottom line is; square does not sell. Don't look for these in the US until after the PGA show in Orlando.

The FT-iz looks like a new club between the FT-9 and the FT-iq. It looks like an addition more than a replacement of the FT-iq. Unless Callaway is moving away from square headed drivers the FT-iz is another addition to their range. But it's also true that the FT-iq is on sale everywhere and the FT-9 isn't...

The technology used in both the FT-IQ and FT-iz (and the rest of the Fusion drivers) is aall based on multiple materials being used to displace the weight. After that, they go in all directions. I own both of the clubs in the original post and while they perform similarly for me, the feel is quite different.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
