Man that sucks about the customer service and the pro shop...their probably claiming that "it's a custom order set and there's nothing we can do....blah, blah, blah"

I don't know if I'd say cost isn't an issue, but with the problems I've had with customer sevice so far, it's as much as principal thing as anything else; and when it comes to that, cost isn't an issue. Add to that I seem to be hitting the others really well, and that might make it even more affordable if I've found an iron I can play for 6-10 years...

I guess bottom line, Cleveland Golf's customer service has lost me as a customer when it comes to irons (I wish I didn't hit their other products so well, I'd just boycott them completely lol).

...Suprisingly, right now I'm most confident in the Taylormade RAC Lt's; which I thought would be a bit too much club for me; I can feel them throughout my swing which is what's missing for me in the CG4's. The Ping I5 feels too light, the Callaway X18 is reasonably close, but right now I'm leaning towards the Taylormade; going to hit them again tomorrow.

I just traded in a 7 year old set of Tommy Armour 845 Silver Scot Irons. I went to get fitted and thought I was going to purchase the Ping I5's before really trying any clubs out. After trying them out I was decding between the TM Rac LT's and the RAC OS2's. I wound up going with the OS2's. They are only a little bigger than the LT's but since I can only get out about once a week I figured the little bit extra and the bit of extra forgiveness would help. So far having a fitted set is awesome and I really to love these irons. Now if only my Vokey wedges would arrive....

I just got the CG4 tours and had a total blow up round with shanks all day. I was playing TA5s with +1" shafts and the fitter I went to said I needed standard length. I went to the range after the blow up round, as well as this moring, and I don't think I can blame the clubs, just my swing. One of the reasons I upgraded is I want to be able to have better control of ball flight, and I don't think I could get much of anywhere with big cavity backs. As far as the blow up I think it was mostly just a snow ball effect of a few bad shots making me stress and not trust my tempo and my swing. I'd rather learn to swing better than depend on equipment that limits my game, just my .02.

The RAC Lt is actually defined as a players club, moreso than the CG4 which is listed in every golf publication as a game improvement iron. The issue I had with the irons was that during my fitting, Cleveland staff technicians failed to take into account swing weight differences and the CG4 irons are substancially lighter than anything I've ever played before. When I tried to have that corrected, Cleveland's customer service crapped the bed; that was enough to send me elsewhere.

In the brief time I spent with the demo RAC Lt 6 iron, I was able to produce a draw and a fade, something I've never been able to do before (I could do hooks and slices without a problem though ); I don't see them limiting my game and I'm looking forward to the arrival of my entire set. I hope the CG4's work better for you than they did for me, the idea behind them and the theory is sound, it's just not for me. That's why there's so many companies able to make profits in this industry though, different strokes for different folks. -Mike

You are correct, the CG4 tour is marketed towards mid to low handicap golfers but there are some differences between the two. The CG4 has a larger head, more offset, and a deeper cavity; hence the game improvement definition. I'm not quite sure where we're going here, you've got a set of irons you like right? I've got a set of irons I like as well, I'm just less than thrilled with how I was treated by Cleveland Golf, that's all. It's a shame I hit the rest of their products so well, I place a lot of value on customer service and support; I would have boycotted them if the other products I have from them weren't so easy to hit.

I saw some of your anti cleveland posts and was looking through your posts wondering what happened to make you so mad. Just though I'd add my experience. I don't think most people even know what swing weight is, and I can't say I agree that you should blame all of cleveland golf because one fitter did not ask you about swing weight. Everyone makes mistakes, perhaps you should share a bit of the blame for not noticing how light they felt to you.

The bottom line is buying clubs can be a bit of a crap shoot, and it is a shame that once you play them they loose so much value. Kinda like buying a car with the wrong engine, and trying to return it a week later. It sounds like the guy who hooked you up with several demo clubs was who you should have gone with in the first place.

I think golfgalaxy and others do some bit where you can get a full set shipped out to you via fedex, I should have probly done that before I made my purchase, and perhaps the moral to the story is that spending 20 bucks for a full set of demo clubs to be shipped may in fact be the best way to go after getting fitted, the problem with that is instant gratification and the "impulse purchase" which I succumed to, and I am sure some 70% of the ppl in the forum have at some point as well. There a TON of how do I pick a club threads, perhaps a sticky would help people out.

I suppose I should clarify on the clubfitting portion of this, I was fitted in the Cleveland demo van by professionals employed by Cleveland Golf; therfore in my mind they shoulder 90% of the responsibility. They knew what I was hitting currently and they knew there were drastic differences between the two. I'll take the other 10% for buying them and not waiting in the clubhouse for an hour while they dried. I was told not to hit them once completed because, "the glue is still drying". That's fine, but by the time the glue dried I was on the course making a fool of myself and the van was long gone LoL.

I'm really not overly mad, just dissapointed. Although as a consumer I've got the right to be either or. Will I buy more Cleveland products? Sadly, yes; because ironically I hit their wedges, hybrids, and drivers extremely well. Would I recommend their products to others? Again, yes; but with a caviat making sure that they are extremely sure the product works for them. In this case it didn't for me and they told me to take a walk.
