I found out about them back in college a few years ago when I heard ''Yoshimi battles the pink robots.'' i've never much been into experimental rock, but i had a neighbor who took a lot of psychadelic drugs, and he introduced me to them. I got the chance to see them a few years ago, and man did they put on a show. it was weird/crazy/awesome. i just got their new album 'Embryonic,' and i think it's quite possible their best yet. its just one of those you can listen to all the way through and every song is literally an experience. and if you haven't heard the Lips, you're missing out.

I think I first heard them back in middle school, on the soundtrack from one of the Batman movies. I liked them through high school, but I guess I haven't thought about them much since. I may have to go dig up one of their CDs next time I'm home.

you should def. check out 'embryonic,' imo it's the best album of 2009 by far.

Nice I still have to check out Embryonic as well, somehow I didn't notice that it came out...the Lips are awesome! Do You Realize, Yoshimi Part I, Race for the Cure, She Don't Use Jelly...some great tracks! FYI there's a full-length documentary of them free streaming on Hulu that's well worth checking out for any fans. http://www.hulu.com/watch/91177/the-...earless-freaks

The Soft Bulletin is one of my favorite albums - I saw the lips four years ago at Vegoose® and they were fantastic.

Some pics I took that evening:
