i hit wiffle balls and putt in my living room, but i cant really take full swings so it kinda sucks. also you can hang up a blanket and use it as a net if u want to chip into it.

Here are a few things I do to keep me occupied and work on the game too. I take my hitting mat and chip balls to diffrent landing areas in my living room. It does not help gage the roll out distance but helps as far as hitting a specific landing point. I also use the same mat to practice short pitches. Using one of my wife's plastic mixing bowls as a target. I do not like putting on carpet but I do just to make sure the stroke is back and through. I also take a club to the top just to check if it is in the proper location at the top of the backswing. I am no expert but I hope this helps some. Good luck.

There are a few things you can do:
Find a heated range
Purchase a net & hitting mat and use it in your garage or basement
you can practice putting anywhere. which is a great thing to do, seeing as your contributing at least 30 strokes to your score through putting.

I have a nice putting mat in my office, and use it, although it helps me work on hitting it straight, it doesn't help me read the greens, or judge speed.

I bought a dozen Callaway foam balls, and my son and I practice chip shots from the living room to the den every night just as a fun father/son thing to do, but it actually helps my short game. He's 6, and has his own pitching wedge, and usually right after dinner he comes out carrying his wedge and foam balls, and says "Dad, you ready?"

This will sound crazy, but practice your short game with tennis balls. I say this b/c I've found that the more confidence I have in my short game and putting the more I don't really worry about how long I am off of the tee and end up hitting more fairways. The tennis balls will help you with your ball striking and you can practice indoors with them, pseudo golf balls, (plastic ones) aren't bad either.

i cut down an old club so i could swing full in my living room without hitting the roof
really helped my swing during winter.
also the bad weather is a good time to work on your fitness
also get an impact bag you can practie your impact anywhere as you dont swing full its just to get the feelings correct

With this kind of winter we are having in the Northeast, there isnt that much real practice you can do without a indoor range nearby or an expensive home setup. I have neither- so im just going to stick it out until i can pratice proper. There is no sense for me to spend time over examining minute mechanical things in my swing just because i cant go out and actually hit some balls.

I work on putting in my living room...... if all golf consisted of was straight 5 footer on carpet I'd win The Masters every year!!! I also stretch out my arms, legs, shoulders and back a lot in preparation for the season.... sounds lame and something for the elderly, but it keeps me mentally prepared. I swear just thinking about the game during the offseason is a good way to get ready. I can't stand hitting balls off of mats, primarily because I make big divots and those mats don't give much.

    • . I've been Playing Golf for: 10 years, 1 year consistently  My current handicap index or average score is: 100 My typical ball flight is: fade The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: inconsistent ball strike   I caught the bug about a year ago and have been playing roughly once a week. Have been getting better with my short game and putting but my ball striking from tee and fairway lets me down. Had my first lesson last month which identified an over the top swing compensated by an open club face. Have been trying everything to get on plane over the last month. Have found that using a bend and press into my left leg as the trigger for my downswing coupled with finding the turn and rotation in both my arms to release the club properly has helped my get nearer to the correct plane. Video below is where I am with it currently. Haven’t taken this new swing to the course yet! Any comments or suggestions are welcome  Videos:  I've been Playing Golf for: 1 year properly  My current handicap index or average score is: 100 av score
    • That's always been the deal. You put in the work hyper focused on ONE or at most two things, so that you don't have to think about anything except a single feel or the target or something on the course.
    • Blind squirrel finds a nut and putted well. no, I decided to play a round being athletic rather than paralyzing myself with swing thoughts. I have no clue if I was doing what I worked on. It was the last day and I was tired of freezing at the top of the swing not know if one of four outcomes were going to happen.
    • Day 299 - 2025-07-26 I spent 15 minutes practicing but it was almost pointless. It wasn't good practice. I was not really in it, but I put the time in. Oh, I did some chipping work before-hand, and that was good. I could have just left after that. 🙂
    • Well that's different.
