I doubt it. It's going to be a totally different course when it hosts the US Open. Hitting fairways is going to be a premium as always and Johnson isn't exactly known for this accuracy. Still, he's playing great golf right now and he's got as good as shot as anyone out there, but as far as being the favorite, I would say no.

I think after David Duvals play at Pebble(and last years U.S. Open) should certainly get him looked at also, but I dont think Dustin Johnson is the favorite but he should definitely be looked at as a contender.
If you always do what you've always done....You'll always be where you are right now..

Yesterdays telecast was really the only time ive seen him play, so i cant say if he can win the open or not. But we always see guys make a run out of nowhere in that tournament so maybe this Dustin has a shot. Very good putting stroke, too.

No, he isnt the favorite. Winning at Pebble and winning at Pebble when its the U.S. Open are 2 very different things.

I don't really like his chance. Obviously, he is playing very well. However, like a lot of you said, he is known for his length, not for his accuracy. Accuracy is much more important than length in the majors. I also found that he is a lot more comfortable in making a lot of birdies than scrambling for pars. To win in the majors, you need to scramble and make clutch putts for pars to win.

I have to go with Dustin Johnson today, looked really good yesterday. I would love if Tiger and Johnson tie and have to go to a playoff that would be a fun pair to watch.

      Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.

      Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).

      Day 31 (2 Jan 26) - Usual Friday men’s group shootout - good day of shot making  as most shots were right on line to the target point.  Putter and green reads were solid with some great par saves and a really tricky birdie.
