so my cousin bought a G15 from some guy and he said he had a bad feeling about the whole sale. How do you know if a club is a fake? especially a g15. plus i figure I midaswell check mine out too while im at it

What I Play:

Driver: Sumo 5000 9.5*
Fairway Woods : S2 15*/18*
Irons : MP 58 3-PW S3000 StiffWedges : Spin Milled 54*/58*Putter : Pro Platinum Newport 2Ball : Pro V1 ( Used )Bag : (Cart Bag) Twister 2010 (Stand Bag)

There are subtle different's in the fakes. Get a pic from ping site and compair it closely to your friends club. Hope its a real one. Good luck.

I know you used to be able to call most manufacturers and they could confirm if the serial number was good. Of course, that's no guarantee that the club isn't a fake, but it's a good start. Looking at pics like the 2nd poster said is another good option. If you have a golf store nearby, try to go hit it next to one you know is legit.

I bought a TM Burner on ebay that I found out was a fake after taking it to the range. I just knew it didn't feel right. I then called TM and they confirmed the serial number was no good. Luckily, I got my money back, but not everyone is that lucky. I don't think TM even confirms over the phone if your serial number is any good anymore. I think they're trying to cut down on folks buying stuff from unreliable sources.

Although obviously this is no guarantee it's real. Anyone can buy one Ping club and make more with that serial number. And most folks don't register their clubs, so it'd be unlikely for Ping to have multiples registered under the same serial number. Even if Ping did have multiples, there would still be little way to figure out which one was real. The only way to guarantee you're getting a real one nowadays is to buy it new from an authorized retailer.

If you put a picture up it would help. If not where about on the club is the serial number stamped?

he sent me a picture and i told him to check the serial number. the club looks a little too orange for me. i guess ill let you all be the judge. i told him to goto my house and compare it with mine because i havnt seen mine yet either but i bought it off an approved dealer. he lives kinda far though. here is the picture. i guess everyone else can be the judge.

I bought a Taylormade Tour Burner on Ebay and I just took it in to a golf shop that is an authorized Taylormade dealer. They called in for me to check if it's was real. I would think you could do the same and take it in to any shop that sells Ping equipment.

    • Weren't you closer to 86 or so when you were here? How are you measuring the 100? I'm about 82, and I'm relatively fast, but I believe Brandt Snedeker is about 106 so it's not way out of bounds or anything.
    • Depends on a lot of factors, but often… my 60 fits the needs.
    • Y'all will enjoy the course. It has a good mix of scenery, tougher holes, mildly jaw-dropping holes, and so on.
    • A lot of groups just add the handicaps together and divide by two. Basically, your average handicap. That doesn't always feel quite right, because theoretically if you have a scratch and an 18 playing together, that'd give them a 9… which the scratch player should be able to beat almost every time by himself. This can work if everyone's handicap is pretty close, but… A better way is often to take 35% of the lower handicap and 15% of the higher handicap, then combine these to determine the team's overall handicap for the tournament. You can also do things like require that each player's tee shot be used on at least three holes. (Three holes assumes it's a nine-hole league. If it's 18 holes, maybe require it on 6 of the 18 holes.)
    • Fair enough, I'll try getting out of the right side of bed tomorrow! Agreed. One of the saddest things about LIV is robbing us of what could have been 15 years of Mickelson in the booth.
