We have several +4's in our area.

This is common for the pro courses. Most people assume that the tour courses are the same as their local muni, but maybe longer. Not so. The courses are insanely difficult. Many of them are well in excess of 7,000 yards, with par 4s nearly 500 yards, and par 3s that can reach over 250 yards, or more. The greens run around 12 on the stimpmeter. They are chosen among the thousands of courses in the U.S. because they are the most difficult. The lower ranked tour pros, who carry handicaps around +5, often fail to break par, while the top player in the field often goes -4 for the day. Think about how difficult a course is that a +5 handicap would often fail to break par?

I think you are being kind. our club champ is a +2 roughly. He can't make it out of our area in the qualifiers. Maybe he is a head case or what ever but it isn't that close. If you watch the PGA most of the club pros that make it are way behind like they need to play a two man scramble to keep up.

i have played several rounds with club pros over the last two years and they have told me the difference is night and day.
