I will be back in the US in a few months and back in the city. Since I have limited space in my back yard I was wondering if it was worth setting up a mat and net to hit balls into. I dont know if this is a good idea because I always was under the impression that if you cant see your ball flight, u might not know if ur messing up, and you might be practiceing a bad habit. Do you think I should get the net and mat? and also are there any good drills that I could do with the mat? all imput is appreciated please!!!
thanks

I put up a net for winter practice. It really helps me keep my swing fluid. I video record it and watch for noticeable flaws.

We've had like 3 days this year when the weather/snow melt have allowed for play. I've played very well on those days - the net & video have certainly helped.

Only problems are:
1. I've worn a few holes into the net, so I have to reinforce it - an old blanket behind the net works fine.
2. I missed the net entirely ONCE. I blocked a 6 iron and it sailed over the net. Luckily it flew to a harmless area and banged around in someone's trees on their property line at the end of the block.

I use one for working on half swings and improving contact. I run a rope down the middle to see where the ball is impacting. I use a carpet sample to save the grass and cushion the impact zone.

Ur ball flight can tell alot about your swing I'm am always scared when I hit into a net that I may be messing up but can't tell and I don't wan to ingrain any bad swing flaws.... But on second thought it better than nothing I suppose

Im thinking about asking my dad to build me a really big one, if u make them properly with multiple layers of netting (and u could use reasonble strong metal fencing) u wouldnt need re-inforcing. Good Luck
