Currently I have a Callway Hyper X in the bag, cut down 1", 10* loft w/ a Stiff stock shaft. As of late there's been a very very high decibal noise coming from it when I hit. It's very very loud and really hurts my ears. So I'm trying to find another club that's a bit quieter (sp?) off the face and forgiving. I'm a short golfer, all of 5'4" and figure I'll need to cut down at least 1" off of a shaft that'll give me a higher launch. I'm thinking of a 10.5 or even an 11* loft for my next one.

Any suggestions? I'll most likely sell my Hyper X then maybe spend another $80 on a club on Ebay so I'm not looking to break the bank with a 'new' driver.

Thanks

I would look into changing shafts before looking at buying a driver with a different loft. Going from 9 degrees to 10 degrees of loft, you likely won't be able to see a huge difference there. Getting a shaft that's better fit for your swing though, you can see a very big difference in ball flight.

what would be your suggestion cause right now i have a stiff shaft. Would you recommend a regular flex. Cause My previous driver was a stiff and i was hitting it well

Stiffness has little to do with trajectory. Try a high launch shaft (low kick point). Graffaloy prolaunch blue, graphite design aura green (Ithink). You can still hit a stiff, just pay attention to launch or kick point of the shaft...

MC beat me to it. Just get a new shaft...a lot more affordable than a new club. Low kick point to get the ball higher.

Like others have suggested, you sould be looking for a softer tip shaft. The thing is that all "low kick point" shafts are not created equal. Just as one companies "stiff" shaft usually is never equal to another companies "stiff" shaft. That would be the explanation that you were able to hit your previous shaft better than your current one. This is why it's so important to get fitted and try numerous drivers and shaft combination. Just because one says "low kick point" or "stiff" that really means nothing; one company's stiff may be another company's regular. Picking a driver off the rack based on what the shaft says will usually end in disappointment.

lhshurdl3r, if you're looking to just get one off ebay there are a ton of good deals on the 2009 models on there. Brand name stuff, <100 from legit sellers. Just do a little research on the models out there and see what you get excited about. I did the exact same thing a couple of months ago and ended up buying a TM Burner 09 for about 100, 10.5* loft, and would definitely recommend it.

Shaft won't change the noise your driver has. If you can live with the noise try a Titeilist DT carry ball. It has fewer dimples than most balls which will give you a much higher launch. My be a cheaper way out if you like the ball. Good luck with whatever you do.

Thanks for the replies... I hit a couple more balls later in the day yesterday. Put some impact tape on the face of the driver to see where on the face it would make that really really high noise. Pretty much every time I hit it dead center it would make that ridiculous noise. Idk if it's a problem with the club, or if that's how it should be... I've heard it a few times in the past and thought nothing of it, but it's pretty often now.

I'm gonna pay attention to the shaft specs I'm looking for, but a few recommendations on a quieter driver would be great. Thanks
