Hi guys,

Last Saturday I purchased two Adams Pro Idea Tour hybrids in the 18 and 20 degree to replace my 2 and three irons. Below are the length compared to each other.

2 iron 39.25" compared to 18 degree hybrid is 40.75"
3 iron 38.75" compared to 20 degree hybrid is 40.25"

Should I cut my hybrids down to where my irons are as I will probably hit the hybrids a bit further and cause a gap in distances.

Thanks again.

I just got an Adams A7 hybrid and I might cut it down bbecause it feels longer than it should - longer than it should be on the step up from 3H to 2H. I'm not sure about the philosophies on hybrid shaft length, as it's primarily been a 'hot-button' issue with drivers lately.

Hybrids have shaft lengths longer than irons but shorter than FW woods.

Test the 2H and 3H and see how far you hit them as is. If you have good control, don't cut them. If you end up with distance gap, you might choke down a half-inch on the 3H to take some smoke off the shot.

Also, the Hs are only 2* apart in loft. Usually 3* or more.

Let us know what happens. This is an interesting question.

I had mine cut down an inch, but all of my clubs are cut down because I'm 5'6". I had them cut down to get a flat lie without choking down on them, but they are still longer than my 3 and 4 irons.

I have the A30S 3-5 hybrids and cut them down a 1/2". If you look at the specs on Adams clubs they avg progressively 1/4" - 1" longer than other clubs makers.

First I would hit them before I would cut anything. The thought that popped into my head was, sense they are only 2* apart maybe it would be wise to cut the 20* more than the 18* this in theory would make more of a distance gap between the two.... just my opinion hope it helps

You may want to be careful if the lie angles can't be adjusted. By cutting down the shafts, you are effectively making the lie angles more flat (normally, a shorter-length club would have a more upright lie angle).

An aside -- many people don't realize this, but if you buy a hybrid or wood with a steel shaft, the stock steel shaft is typically shorter than the stock graphite shaft by about an inch, yet the OEM's don't adjust the lie angles -- so, you end up with the same problem.

Would and inch cut off make much diffrents in stiffness? Polly be OK, but I wouldn't want to cut any more than that.
