heck I had a girlfriend once from Manchester, what can I say?

Me too. wonder if they were related?

Or even the same??
Splendid seat of the Industrial Revolution (or was that Brum, I forget now ....).

It was Telford! (more precisely, Ironbridge) Shropshire.

Acropo,
Thanks for the cultural enlightenment. I am about as out of touch with modern trends in disparagement and mick-taking as one could imagine.
My own development in this area was arrested circa 1978 ....

haha, mate we get a bad reputation but in reality it isnt as bad, in fact i love the city, obviously theres parts of it that you stay away from if you dont wanna get in some trouble but on the whole its all good

I was thinking more along the lines of the fans of a guy called "Morrisey"... Certainly a strange group. Manchester United I wrote off a long time ago as merely football hooliganism. We have our own black sheep, we call them WalMart shoppers.

My grandmother dated a guy years and years ago (late 70s, early 80s?), and he walked into a bar in Lauderdale. Asked the bartender where the fags were, got the crap beat out of him. Talk about your cultural faux pass. And, as we're from the U.S., there's not one part of England that we would consider "scary". Consider yourselves lucky. What you guys call a crime spree we call, "damn kids." Our murder rate is 1/3 of what it was 20 years ago, and it's still 3 times higher than England. We're #11 in the world for homicide. And we're absolutely #1 for imprisonment, by a long, long way. Yay, U.S.A... #1!

If she is an anesthetist and lives in Australia, there is a remote possibility.

I sense that Camilo is breaking through. Then again, I've had this sense before so I wouldn't bet on it ......

Wow! Really? An anaethsetist? Now living in Australia? No. That's not her. Mine was a nurse. (Phew!)
