For those of you who hate to floss, try the floss picks. I HATE flossing but have found using the floss pics very easy. There's a bunch of different shapes and brands. I've been doing it daily now for a year and my dentist has noticed a huge improvement.

I went 5-6 years before my last visit about 2 months ago. No cavities! She just said try to floss. It was quite amuzing as in that 5 years I had periods where I was eating hard candy like I was going to die.

I tried one brand of floss pick, the damn floss is too thick for half of my teeth to fit in between. Guess I need to try a higher quality brand.

Amen to that. I always use them after I eat, even a snack. I have a box in my car, and I carry them when I travel. My hygenist says I'm one of the easiest patients she has. Just as effective and so much easier than floss.

As far as the longest between visits, probably about 6 or 7 years when I was in my late teens and early 20's. Since then it's been every 6 months like clockwork. Most of the insurance plans I've had over the years have included some form of dental, and under most of those plans the regular maintenance is competely covered. Even if not, cleanings are typically under $50, and going twice a year is a cheap way to keep small problems from becoming major procedures.

19 years for me. I went when I was 15 for 2 fillings. I hated it so much I never went back, until my wife who works in the Dentist field made me go when I was 34. I had no cavities and only needed a normal teeth cleaning. My wife was jealous since she needed work and is a tooth Nazi. She keep telling me I'm going to need a deep cleaning and will have to numb me up to clean that deep. Nope.....I did brush at least twice a day and floss as much as I can.
