Hit my friends FT-3 on Sunday. Only took one swing with it but was pleasantly surprised by it. Haven't owned or hit a Callaway driver since I bought the C4 way back when...... That club single handedly soured me on all Callaway products. Hit it ok, sounded like a wood baseball bat, and the shaft snapped after 5 rounds..... Send it in, got it back with a new C4 shaft and it snapped again. Had it reshafted again and by that time I was over it and bought a 983 and haven't veered away from Acushnet since.

Ok, enough babbling. Question is this; Im thinking about picking up a FT-3 or FT-5. What are your guys thoughts on the two? Is anyone using the tour versions of these and how "open" is the face? How tour is the "Tour Authentic" on the FT-5?

I have an FT-3 Draw bias, still the driver I hit most reliably.

Would have prefered a neutral face FT-3 though if I had my druthers -- just happened to hit the draw bias well when I had a more l-r swing and was sampling a large quiver of used drivers to chose from.

My instructor instilled in my a more r-l (draw) swing and now the draw bias on the club is a tiny bit too much, but still very usable.

I know others who also still swear by the FT-3.

I just picked up a FT-3 Tour (for $38) with NVS 65s. Only way I can describe it is very easy to hit, just put an easy swing on it and I get a nice high ball flight, good distance, and a little fade usually. It always feels solid at impact, not a lot of feel, about as forgiving as my Burner. I consider it the best bargain of any driver I own right now. Seems to be low spin as well, the NVS launches pretty high for me it gets huge carry if I put a good swing on it.
