Hey y'all,

Been a while since I've posted.. I'm really itching to get out and play some golf again this summer!
What I'm wanting to know is what is a good goal to set for myself? I don't really know exactly what I shoot on average, since my game is so inconsistent. I think I want to set a goal for 9 holes, since I will gradually work my way up to 18 holes throughout the summer.

So what is a good goal to set as far as scores go? I don't really know where I want to get to so that is kind of messing up my other goals on how to get there. haha.

Thanks!

In my 14 Xtreme bag:

Driver Burner 10.5*3 Wood Rawlings 15*5 Wood Ignite 19*Irons S2 Max 4-GWPutter Rossa Corza Ghost 35" Next to be replaced: 3 wood. All Rawlings junk has got to go. haha

I can't really remember off hand, I have all my cards from the courses at home... Which is about 4 hours away from me at school. haha. Kind of a problem there. I usually play about 2 different golf courses, sometimes 3 but it depends on who I go with.
I found the links to the courses right after I typed that stuff up above... haha. Here is Norwoods and Mosswood Meadows information.
I usually go to Norwoods more often, but I have been to Mosswood Meadows a few times as well.

Thanks,

well if your handicap is a 30, try to break 95 at least 5 times this summer?

Hey y'all,

I think bogey golf is a good goal, and attainable if you make an effort to improve the weak points in your game. In addition to short game practice (as lugonza suggested), I would say make sure you understand course management.

Geez louise those are some tight driving holes at Mosswood (based on the pictures). I'd focus on a go-to tee ball (3 wood or 2 iron - whatever floats your boat) and keeping the ball in play with a smooth swing - take plenty of club.

A 50 would be a great score there for a 30 hdcp!

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to aim for about 45-50... I'm having a lot of problems with my irons mainly. I used my driver off the tee and made the fairways most of the time. I've been reading and doing all I can to get ready to practice and play while the weather has been cold. Hopefully I can get out and practice when the weather finally does warm up.

Thanks again everyone! Any other suggestions are welcome!

    • A strong grip cups the wrist (lead) and then it wants to flatten through impact, something I used to be able to avoid to keep it from going left and protecting my forearm (the main premise of my set up). Longer the club, harder it is becoming. Either way, yes, I need to transition to gripping it open.
    • Why don't you grip it "open" so you can return your hand to the place where you're comfortable/not sore, but the ball won't go left? It's effectively weaker… without actually "being" weaker?

    • Idk but I would have to imagine that a putter that is aimed where you think it's aimed would be the most important aspect of a putter
