I finally decided to pay for a handicap through a GHIN club, but I ran into an interesting set of circumstances that I would like an opinion on. My group had a round where it started out as a light rain. The course had some spots of standing water, but as the round went, the rain got heavier and by 17, the rain was a downpour, barely any dry spots and clubs were ungrippable. Somehow, we finished, but the round was, shall we say, not exactly up to my standards. Question is this, would you post it or should I just throw it out and live to fight another day.....

common logic goes a long way in situations like that...no i wouldn't post it. btw the stupidest thing i have ever seen is according to the the book if you play 14 holes or some number around there, it might be 12 and you get rained out, yu are supposed to take par for the rest of the course, add a strokes where your HC says you should get one and submit the round....that is the dumbest damn thing i have ever heard.

I'd post it. Your HCP score represents all rounds in a variety of conditions. It becomes a slippery slope if you start determining if the weather conditions warrants a posting.

Not posting the score is an option. I dont think any reasonable person would hold it agaist you. Its not really that big of a deal. But if you do decide to post, one bad score isnt going to mean much at all in regards to your handicap.

I went ahead and posted it, so my handicap to start out will be a little high just due to rust, so hopefully I'll be able to filter that round out

If you play often its really not going to be that big of a deal. I wouldnt worry about it.

Since only low five out of ten count once you get ten rounds in it will make no difference.

I played in the group behind the OP.....to his credit, the conditions were brutal......it was OK when we started.....by the finish, the fairways were lakes, it was cold, and everybody was soaking wet, even with rain gear on.....you could barely feel your hands.....we were absolutely the only two groups on the course the last 2 hours.....the greens were starting to puddle the last two holes....Sergio Garcia definitely would have been pissed, LOL

Post it. It was a legitimate round. Once you get enough scores posted so that the calculation throws out your worst scores, that one will likely never be applied to your handicap.
