Hey all,
My mate just brought a "Launchpad tour" Golf simulater/launch mointer. I was VERY suprised how accurate the launch mointer softwear is! I tried heaps of different clubs all giving me the resualts i would get on a course. I also shaped the ball and read all the shots as it should!

Has anybody else tried these? What did you think of them? Im thinking of buying one of these now instead of my Vector pro. (just because of the price and how accurate ive found this other launch mointer)

Hi,

I have the Launchpad Tour and have found it reasonably accurate when using either the tethered ball or by using a real ball hitting into a net. The biggest selling point for me was the fact that it can be used outdoors. I believe that most if not all the other simulators (Optishot, P3Pro etc..) whilst possibly being more accurate, require indoor use under specific lighting conditions. If indoor space to swing a club is an issue as it was for me, then all the more expensive simulators, however accurate they may be, are rendered useless.

One problem I do have is that when using a practice ball rather than than a real ball, the shots do not register correctly when using Tiger Woods '08. I have played about with various setting (Difficulty settings withing LPDR, Golfer Settings, e,g advanced, novice etc.. within Tiger Woods 08) but have not found the correct combination to allow using a practice ball a viable option. The LPDR software seems to register the shots OK but the same shot in Tiger Woods '08 will sometimes match the LPDR software but other times will be way out). I know there may be other options regarding mouse sensitivity that I can set but as yet have not found the answer. If anyone has had any success using a practice ball with Launchpad Tour then please let me know what setting you have used.

Regards

    • Tale of two swings.  Swing 1: Slightly outside takeaway (hands move outside of target line) only to allow trail elbow over collapsing at P4. Doesn't take much to overdo it for the trail elbow collapse to only further exaggerate. That's death. Swing 2: Hands stay slight in at takeaway for a much better trail elbow condition at P4. This is a hard sell from an instinct perspective. More focus on un-weighting and re-weighting of lead foot to unlock a bit more mobility of hips and torso. A major flaw that creeps up often is me swinging flat footed and becoming overly armsy-collapsy as a result. Got reminded of this the hard way during my 2nd round match for club net championship. Was cruising along 2up until I made the turn. Then lost the swing for next five holes. Andy was playing good enough to capitalize. By the time I regained my swing on 16th, it was too late. Even Andy was like "That was a gift". Obviously that stings because have played well enough lately. Should have closed him out of the game comfortably with a few holes to spare. Shoulda woulda coulda. Tough lesson. Damn. P.S. I know the swings look very similar but trust me there is a difference.
