I've been doing some research on the possibility of getting a new driver. Right now I have a no-name driver and an old Big Bertha, the former of which I dislike as a club and the latter of which is not very forgiving (190cc) nor modern (though when I hit it correctly it is a joy to hit).

Anyway, the most consistent weakest point of my game has been off the tee and I still don't have a consistent swing down, so getting a driver fitting right now seems fairly pointless. My plan is to just get a forgiving driver from a couple years ago, build a swing this year, and get a fitting next year if I think that I could benefit from it.

Based on my criteria and the prices I've seen clubs go for on eBay, I'm thinking about getting an Adams Insight XTD a3 boxer. I don't want to get the a3os because I don't want to develop my swing based on a draw-biased driver band-aid.

The problem is that my swing speed is not very fast (maybe 85mph based on a reading from last year), so I'm not sure which loft I should get. The two lofts within my range that I find are the 10.5* and 11.5*, but from various reading I've done (such as here ), it seems that my optimal loft angle is probably about 13*. However, I understand that the stock shaft in the driver, the Aldila DVS, has a low kick point and promotes higher ball flight. Conversely, the club head seems to have been built optimally for a slightly faster swing.

(Local stores are not carrying this club in either loft, so I can't try them out.)

I need to decide between these two lofts. The 10.5* is easier to find and possibly a few bucks cheaper to buy. However, I keep wondering if I should be waiting for an 11.5* to come along. The problem with 11.5* lofts is that they tend to come with senior flex shafts, and I don't want to pay $45 for a club and then $50+ to get it re-shafted.

Thoughts? Might a 10.5* loft on that clubhead cut my driving short?
